The strong gravity of Earth makes the physics of a fully reusable rocket with positive payload margin extremely difficult to solve, which is why it has never been done before. Removing the mass of landing legs from the booster and ship by making the tower do the work of final velocity attenuation greatly improves payload margin. This architecture also simultaneously substantially increases launch cadence, because the same arms that lift the booster and ship onto the launch stand also catch them, allowing immediate placement of the booster back on the launch stand and the ship back on top of the booster.

@visiogene It is at least how SpaceX sold it, they want to relaunch their rocket in like less than 1h, so it has to be back on the launch pad immediately.
From a technical pov, yes it also allows u to do without legs on the rocket to balance on the ground, which are quite fragile and heavy

I would expect the reason to be a technical barrier and not time to relaunch because the chopsticks is a significant deviation.

@visiogene Well, they also use the technique of reigniting the boosters to slow the rocket down here, but the chopsticks are used to return the rocket directly to the launch pad. Unlike the method involving more human intervention, which would take hours if not days for safety reasons

I resigned as U.S. Ambassador Ukraine when Trump kept siding with Putin over our democratic partner. Now, my successor is doing the same.
I knew I had to speak out and run for office because siding with dictators is just not who we are.
