I got an offer this weekend for $100,000 LESS than asking price on one of my listings with less than a week on market. Either they can’t afford it, or it’s a price anchor. Either way my recommendation to the seller is the same- reject. Not every offer makes sense to counter. We don’t negotiate against ourselves.

@visiogene Yeah there is. Their preapproval is for less than what the contract would be for if we did that so we would have the property pulled off market for a buyer that hasn’t proven they can fulfill the contract

I strongly oppose the Trump administration’s disruptive decision to require many students, temporary visa holders, and other individuals seeking green cards to leave the United States and return to their home countries while their applications are processed. This policy creates unnecessary fear and uncertainty for families, workers, and employers who are following the law. The Administration disregards the fact that many individuals seeking permanent residency are here legally and waiting for their cases to move through an already backlogged immigration system. America has long benefited from attracting top researchers, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators through our legal immigration system and worker visa programs. Forcing these individuals to leave the United States during the green card process will deprive our country of their innovation, their tax contributions, and the many ways they strengthen our economy and communities. As the son of Indian immigrants, I know firsthand that our nation is strengthened by people who come here legally, work hard, and contribute to our communities. We should be reducing processing delays and modernizing our immigration system, not creating additional barriers for people who are following the rules. I support legal challenges to this policy and expect the courts to halt its implementation.

This is a true story I’ve been holding onto… During my marriage, my ex-husband and I created 6 frozen embryos through IVF after struggling with infertility. We divorced 3 years ago. The divorce agreement said the embryos would be destroyed if we didn’t agree on what to do. Now he’s remarried and his new wife can’t have kids. He wants me to sign over the embryos so they can have them implanted. In exchange, he’s offering me $350k and to drop the remaining alimony payments I’m still receiving. The catch: I’m 34 now, single, and recently found out my fertility is declining fast. These embryos are likely my only biological chance at children too. But using them alone would require a surrogate and massive costs I can’t afford.

It's not that the lower IQ person is "stupid" (although that can often be the case) or the higher one is arrogant, it's that you're literally operating on different systems. A 20 point difference (roughly 1.3 standard deviations) means: Vocabulary and abstraction levels diverge sharply. What feels like crystal clear logic to one side sounds like vague, pretentious word salad to the other. Jokes land flat. Metaphors get taken literally. Complex cause and effect chains get simplified into "this good, that bad." Different time horizons and pattern recognition. One person thinks in months or years and sees systems, the other is locked into days or immediate rewards. Trying to explain second order effects feels like speaking another language. Also, processing speed and working memory gaps. The higher IQ person is already three steps ahead, getting impatient. The lower IQ person feels talked down to or overwhelmed. Both walk away frustrated. Both have wasted each others time.
