Gilroy did very little research into the lore, Lucasfilm has a team of people whose job it is to know that stuff and to help directors and writers use it. the reason Gilroy used more of it is bc he had a plan and knew how to use established lore to good plot ends for the show

It's ironic: Andor had more references to Star Wars deep lore than Filoni's shows, despite Gilroy being unfamiliar with the franchise But maybe that's why he did so much research into the lore, instead of just focusing on the handful of characters he was emotionally attached to

• Nowhere in the film is it said or even implied that the dagger is ancient.
• The inscription tells Rey the exact coordinates she should stand on for the shapes to align.
• DS2 ruins are just massive enough not to shift from waves.

It’s fine to like Andor. Despite its issues, I’m a fan of it too. Tony (for the most part) is a good writer
But he doesn’t have the passion that Dave does. Even though some people really want him to love Star Wars, he just doesn’t.
Imo passion with a few mistakes is better…
