You’re joking @CoxHelp . I literally triggered a production deployment at work 30 seconds before my internet decides to end its day. How is my deployment going? No idea.

My @delta flight got canceled from JFK. The customer service line was huge, so I google a Delta JFK phone number. The number was 1888-571-4869 Thinking I reached Delta, I started telling them about getting me on a new flight.

Normalize doing self retros frequently. There are opportunities to learn from everything to see what you can do better. It’s ok to admit something wasn’t perfect or you did something wrong. It’s not ok to not identify and not correct it for next time.

Remember the time when you wanted to accept credit cards on your site you had to get a processor and cert and stuff? Kids are spoiled these days…

One thing I hate about Star Trek is time travel. It always feels like they are stretching for new ideas when they do it.

Constant self improvement is key in my life. At work, I constantly do self retros even if a failure wasn’t my responsibility… maybe I could have still prevented it. I also do them personally where I recognize I get stuck in my routines that I may not be doing enough with Luna.

@TheLordSkippy @GRUStormCentral Agreed but… welcome to America? Travel anywhere in this country and you’ll see this sort of thing. I’ve lived through ice storms where ice would weigh down power lines and snap them off poles causing outages. Gets pretty cold real fast inside a home.

@LikelyMitch @GRUStormCentral And that's the problem: do something cheap here and now so that the future generations will pay the cost for constant maintenance and hour long power outages 🤓 (as I said, somehow other civilized countries seem to have slightly more foresight 😉)

@LikelyMitch @GRUStormCentral If they had buried their lines they would not have to repair any line that got stuck by whatever tree, no matter how small it was at what time. And I'm sure even GRU managers knew that trees - in fact - do grow over time. 🤷‍♂️

@LikelyMitch @GRUStormCentral Ooor: the person at GRU who decided to build a power line under a tree. Because you know that not everyone will maintain every single tree. The power grid in Gainesville is designed to fail. And i can't believe it's cheaper to repair it twice a day compared to underground cables.

@TheLordSkippy @GRUStormCentral Other countries do a lot I wish we would. It’s about the cost of it now. This is an issue all around the country. I don’t blame the tree except our water oaks will rot from the inside making it hard to know if a tree will give way.

@LikelyMitch @GRUStormCentral Other developed countries do bury their last mile power lines underground. And the big overland power lines are usually above the trees. If GRU hangs their cables under a tree I don't know what they expect to happen. Don't blame the tree, that's all I'm saying!
