Yesterday’s webinar was fantastic. I loved both talks and the stunning images of plant spatial transcriptomics!🌱 It reminded me how much I enjoy plant research. Contact me via DM for the webinar replay if you were unable to attend yesterday.

Our new Nature Plants paper is out (and we’re on the cover)!👉 bit.ly/4lS8sOB By combining scRNA-seq with conserved TF binding (multiDAP) we define gene regulatory networks for 65 cell types across 4 tissues in a wide range of flowering plants!

Nearly everything you know about plants was first discovered in a plant you’ve likely never heard of: Arabidopsis thaliana. Arabidopsis has taught us how plants respond to light, which hormones control plant behavior, and why some plants grow long, deep roots while others grow them shallow and wide. But despite its beloved reputation among plant biologists worldwide, many elements of the Arabidopsis life cycle have remained a mystery. Salk Institute researchers have now established the first genetic atlas to span the entire Arabidopsis life cycle, from single seed to a mature plant, capturing the gene expression patterns of 400,000 cells. The publicly available resource will help expand research and development in plant biotechnology, agriculture, and environmental sciences. 🌱 Xenium breaks barriers in plant spatial biology! Thick cell walls, autofluorescence & complex tissues have long challenged spatial transcriptomics. A new bioRxiv preprint shows an optimised @10xGenomics Xenium workflow for Medicago truncatula roots & nodules.

Tremendous work by the extremely talented postdocs! @TrALEE_Sci @NatanellaE @nobolly .Thank you for putting in a major effort on this “side project” to develop a power community resource arabidopsisdevatlas.salk.edu

We are thrilled to have our spatial single-cell atlas of the Arabidopsis lifecycle in @NaturePlants. It turns out that it is easy to generate aesthetic images when the spatial expression of 1,000 genes is available! 1/n @NatanellaE @nobolly @JoeEcker nature.com/articles/s4147…

Think we’ve already cracked the science of seeds? Not even close. 👇 A new expert review shows how powerful new tools - like single-cell analysis and multi-omics - are revealing what really controls how seeds grow, sleep, and wake up.
