I get the frustration when someone ignores local norms, but nothing the streamer did justified being assaulted multiple times. Rules and cultural expectations aren’t laws, and ignorance, while annoying, isn’t a crime. Streaming at the wrong time may have triggered the situation, but that doesn’t grant anyone the right to hit him. By the end, he was only defending himself. Saying “it wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t done X” is shaky reasoning and confuses causation with justification. His stream may have set things off, but so would simply sitting next to that ossan, or even just boarding that train. You can trace “what-ifs” back forever, but the real choice to escalate was the old man’s. That’s where the responsibility lies. And if the streamer had been a woman, would people still claim the assault was justified? Cultural irritation never excuses violence, period.

If the team gets a talk to be careful of their language on the shop floor, maybe those involved will be mindful of their actions in future.

@IcelandFoods in the West Ealing branch about 2:30pm today, end of the first aisle when you walk in & 3 female members of staff were discussing something loudly when one shouted “what the fuck” as I walked by with my 2yr old daughter. Not acceptable language from store employees.

She wasn’t the only child there & older children will definitely know what it means, customer facing staff should handle themselves better. I’ve worked in a museum where that would be a disciplinary.

@TakiUdon_ I am glad I got my pre-order in early as in 9:03pm, I wanted to get two colors but had to settle for one due to order limitations on the friends of Retro Remake link, and the fact it was a pre-order made me hesitant on putting down more.
