Ironically, only the theistic evolutionist can say they believe evolution because it’s true. An atheist materialist can only say they believe it because it increases their survivability or level of fitness, unless they’re not really an atheist materialist

Those who fear eternal damnation need only take up the practice of sustained daily prayer with a intentional disposition of receptivity to whatever grace God wants to give you in order to be drawn closer to Him over time If continued, it’ll be impossible to cling to grave sin

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a philosophically coherent vision of the cosmos and humanity’s role in it prior to forming concrete political opinions

Here’s why continental philosophy is better than analytic philosophy: Continental philosophy and German idealism gave the Church at least one saint (Edith Stein). Analytic philosophy gave us Peter Singer 😬

@DavidGodar @JoshuaTCharles He then says “Consequently a man loves his wife more intensely, but his parents with greater reverence.” That doesn’t seem to clearly state that the man ought to choose his mother in this scenario. Plus, the state of his own family could be in jeopardy which is another factor

St. Thomas Aquinas said the following: “A man does not in all respects leave his father and mother for the sake of his wife: for in certain cases a man ought to succor his parents rather than his wife.” See the link, if you would like to do so. If leaving one’s father and mother to cleave to one’s wife does not contradict succoring one’s parents rather than one’s wife, would it really contradict saving one’s parent rather than one’s wife? Regarding “Christ’s descriptions of marriage” and “the constant belief and teaching of the Catholic Church”, I am not convinced that those prove that one’s wife must be above one’s mother. My position is not that the mother must be above the wife. My position is that I’m not aware of people being generally bound one way or another, and in the absence of such binding, people would, in the absence of other binding, be free.

The answer here is very clear: 1. Wife (covenantal obligation) 2. Mother(“honor your mother”) 3. Friend (duty of friendship) 4. Girlfriend (last human, because clearly extramarital) 5. $450 million (because not human life)

MAGA just spent the last week calling the Pope a "liberal from Chicago". Yesterday Pope Leo got on a plane and stated that he is: - Not for open borders - Not for gay blessings - Condemns any killing of protesters - Puts the gospel first

The Left? All the anti-Leo stuff I've been seeing on this site for days has been coming from MAGA people, starting with the president. I'm glad you're not joining in with it, Michael, and no doubt the Left is delighted to see it. But let's have no illusions about who started it.

"This is an anti-Catholic — and coincidentally anti-Trump — op to try to split the Catholics from the president, and the president from the Catholics." @michaeljknowles breaks down the Left's efforts to pit President Trump and Pope Leo XIV against one another:

There is absolutely truth to this when it comes to contingent matters of prudential judgment (see Cardinal Ratzinger’s ‘04 statements), but when it comes to the destruction of innocent life in wartime, there’s no room for any dissent whatsoever
Acyn@Acyn

Vance: I certainly think that in some cases it would be best for the Vatican to stick to matters of morality, to stick to matters of what going on in the Catholic Church and let the President to dictating American public policy
