@SenorVito9 Not sure how Ben missed learning about polygamy. I grew up in the church and knew about it. My kids who are primary age know about it, in an age appropriate way. I served the same years Ben did, so I'm similar age. Sounds like a him issue

Before I joined the Church, I spent significant time researching and learning about it — both the good and the controversial. Polygamy was literally one of the third or fourth things I learned about regarding Church history. Admittedly, I had access to the internet, but when I asked the missionaries about these issues during my lessons, they were always willing to answer questions, offer resources, and engage with me honestly. They never tried to avoid the topic. I spoke with at least 12 missionaries before I joined the Church. The difference was that I actively sought out information. I actively asked questions and did the best I could to investigate everything I could about the Church before making the decision to join. After all of that, I still chose to join. To be fair to the missionaries who taught me during that time, they did not always have every answer, which is completely understandable. However, they were always willing to redirect me to resources, help me research, and answer questions to the best of their ability. If they could not answer something, they were very honest about it and would direct me to the Mission President or relevant websites and sources where I could find more information. At no point was I stonewalled, and at no point did I feel my questions were being ignored. Fun fact, I also asked about Kolob and they both laughed and we're impressed by my knowledge of Church history/culture for a investigator 😁

I served a Mormon mission from 2002 - 2004. None of us missionaries knew that Joseph Smith practiced polygamy. I was never taught that as a Mormon kid. I don't think I found out until I was in my mid-twenties, and I didn't find out about it at church. I found out about it online.

I wasn’t happy when Clinton, Obama or Biden won, but I didn’t call them fascist/dangerous/threat to democracy. I didn’t hope someone would assassinate them. I went on with my life with gratitude. Friends on the left, please try this. Your life and our country will be better.

There are 5 of them in Washington State as well, and 1 in Oregon. The artist who makes them (Thomas Dambo) has made hundreds, throughout the world. Visit trollmap.com to see all of the locations 😁 This is one of the Washington trolls, which we found on vacation last year

Wait… you can just stumble across GIANT trolls in Minnesota?! We went out exploring around Detroit Lakes and ended up finding THREE of these incredible wooden trolls hidden in the landscape. Each one has its own personality… from the wild “Ronny Funny Face” sticking out his tongue to these massive, almost mythical figures tucked into the woods and open spaces. What I love most is how they’re not just sculptures… they feel like they belong there. Like you’ve stepped into a storybook or some forgotten world where giants once walked. I’ve traveled all over the world chasing unique places… but moments like this remind me that you don’t always have to go far to find something unforgettable. Sometimes it’s right here in Minnesota… you just have to go looking. 👉 Have you seen these trolls yet? 👉 Or what’s the coolest hidden gem you’ve found in Minnesota? Let’s build a list 👇 If you’re looking for a fun, different kind of adventure… this is absolutely worth the trip.

Fellow husbands and fathers: What are your go-to activities when your wife and kids are out of town? I am solo for the next few days! Have a temple reservation booked and considering a tee time but was curious what others like to do when they get this much time on their hands!

I shared one of these a few days ago, but I actually meant to post the cropped version. Curious if anyone notices the difference. •Option 1: you notice, and prefer the cropped one (left) •Option 2: you notice, and prefer the original (right) •Option 3: they look identical to you

I have the funniest story, a vignette from one of my submarine rides. But I can't share because too many of my LDS folks are inveterate prudes. Sad.

@babybeginner I'm just seeing it this morning, 8 hours after the post. That said, I'm not constantly here on X, and hadn't opened it much since last night, so that also may be a factor?

I’m trying to test something. I’m told in the first 15 mins of a post the algorithm tests it on a few people to see if it’s worth showing to anyone else. Is it testing on your followers or others? If you see this would you tell me if you’re a follower or not? How many minutes since I posted this did you see it? It makes a difference if your content is sent out to followers as a test or random people. Presumably your followers are interested in the things you are too. If a post doesn’t get traction immediately it just stops being shown to people. Thank you for the help!!

@LinkedWinters LOVE those first two. I rewatch them multiple times a year. They're my comfort movies for when I'm crafting. I actually haven't seen the other ones, though!

Yesterday on the plane I watched the 1985 classic Clue with Tim Curry, one of my favs from childhood. I find myself reverting back to older films because there's so many good ones, and most of the new movie that are coming out are terrible. What are your favorite old classic films?

Male student AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley High School stole 1st in both the girls’ long jump and triple jump, and 3rd in the girls’ high jump. How must those girls feel to see adults praising him for cheating, with his insulting makeup and falsetto

This makes my blood boil. The poor girls being told they are just not worthy of their wins, places, tv interviews, opportunities & scholarships in their own sports category 😡… this male would not make top 100 amongst other males. It’s cheating!!!

I just went down to check on my boys, 12 and 16, before heading to bed, and to see which movie they had chosen to watch. I found them both on the couch, completely engrossed in the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Apparently, my older son read the book in English class. He was explaining the story to his little brother.
