🚨 New Publication Alert! 🚨 Our first paper of the year is out in Ophthalmology @AAOjournal! We analyzed 1351 eyes with geographic atrophy (GA) from AREDS & AREDS2 over 4 years to uncover key drivers of BCVA decline: 🔹 Baseline BCVA 🔹 GA proximity to the foveal center 🔹 GA growth rate We also developed a 3-step approach to stratify 4-year BCVA loss risk & identify who may benefit most from current/future treatment—a step forward in GA care & clinical trial design! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve matched into my first-choice vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Duke! The first photo was taken 10 years ago, when I was an undergraduate at Duke assisting with intraoperative OCT that we developed and observing Dr. Cynthia Toth teach retina fellows in the OR. That's when I knew I wanted to become a VR surgeon and a scientist like her. The second photo is from today, during Dr. Toth’s visit to UCSF. She delivered a named lecture on intraoperative OCT and her career journey. This moment truly brings things full circle, and I can’t wait to begin my VR fellowship at Duke! I'm so grateful to my amazing mentors along the way!

In collaboration with @MariyaMoosajee, we used BETR method to study ellipsoid zone width in #USH2A. We found EZ width declines exponentially, and the log-transformed rate required 48% fewer patients for a 1-year trial (38 vs 73). @bmj_latest #RP #MedTwitter

I've always wanted to find a better way to carry everything in my multi-lens case. So I designed and 3D printed an insert to hold all my lenses, a scleral depressor, and a lens cloth in a @VolkOptical case. Below is the link to my model. #ophthalmology #MedTwitter
