It always thrills me, though I can't describe it. My finger on your thigh does not touch skin— it touches your skin warming to my touch. You are a language I have learned by heart. This intimate patois will vanish with us, its only native speakers. Does it matter? Our tribal chants, our dances round the fire performed the sorcery we most required. They bound us in a spell time could not break. Let the young vaunt their ecstasy. We keep our tribe of two in sovereign secrecy. What must be lost was never lost on us.

@Wealthandhappi @matt_vanswol It is like religion but instead of pointing toward anything greater than oneself (i.e. God), therapy is only about the self, which is much more limiting at best, and encouraging narcissism at worst

@matt_vanswol That sounds no different from religion -Accepting everything as dogma -Using confession as a panacea for bad behavior -Equating attendance with being a good person It’s probably a net positive for society on the whole

@OptimismMommy @JonHaidt Big 2nd order issue is for Gen Z to not go even more extreme in coddling THEIR children, as I think this situation arose bc they’re the 2nd gen of coddled kids, as gen x’ers as a whole didn’t face the same adversity as previous generations either
