Was in #Morris #Turnberry today to present Mayor Heffer with $32,390 from our government’s #CommunityEmergrncyPreparedness grant which will be invested in new emergency initiatives like road closure signs that can be used throughout the municipality.

Happy to join Reeve Harding at the #Howick Fire Department to present $16,800 from our government for #FireProtection for the Howick volunteer firefighters to help keep them safe while they protect us! The incredible work by local volunteer firefighters is valued and can never taken for granted. Thank you to Doug from the #Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office for joining us for the presentation!

I was on hand to celebrate the grand opening of #UniqueMinds Child Care Inc. #GracelandSite in #Lucknow. By partnering with the #LucknowKinsmen this local daycare has been able to double its capacity to 86 spaces, supporting local families and generating good jobs!!

Lucknow’s Music in the Fields, hosted by the #LucknowKinsmen can be summed up as ‘Great Music for a Greater Cause’ and the 2026 event is shaping up to be another amazing event that will attract thousands of concert goers to the community! Proceeds from this event will be paid forward to important initiatives throughout #Huron #Bruce. I am pleased to share our government continues to support this event through the #ExperienceOntario Program! This year be sure to #Experience Lucknow’s @LucknowsMITF August 27-29!

Cloudy skies couldn’t keep people away from participating in the 10th annual Hike for Hospice event in support of @HSHospice in #Tiverton. It was wonderful to see so much local support - be sure to support your local hospice as well!!

@Bruce_Power and the Municipality of #Kincardine have taken a significant step in the preparation for the proposed Bruce C Nuclear Project. The partners have finalized a new four-year Infrastructure and Community Readiness Assessment Agreement. Kicked off the @ONRuralAffairs Rural Summit Series in #Timmins with 70 people representing northeastern municipalities, small businesses and not for profit organizations. During the summit we reviewed outcomes that support our strategic plan for #RuralOntario, had a tremendous panel share their ec dev perspectives pertinent to northeastern Ontario which ultimately generated valued discussions & report backs that will inform how we collectively can continue to #ConnectCommunities and #DriveGrowth.

While in #Timmins for the 2026 #FONOM conference I appreciated the opportunity to be in the community. I also learned about the local positive outcomes of the @ONRuralAffairs #RuralOntarioDevelopment support like the doctor recruitment program facilitated by the @CityOfTimmins Ec Dev team.

The Ministry of @ONRuralAffairs was very engaged during the 2026 #FONOM conference. We participated in the trade show, shared a presentation on rural economic development; I addressed the conference to highlight our ministry’s programs & whole of government approach to supporting rural communities; held deputations and I joined my colleagues in a Q & A session with municipal leaders.

Have been in #Timmins participating in the annual Federation of Northeastern Ontario Municipalities conference. I appreciated the impressive trade show through to the pertinent topics & great presenters as well as the valued engagement with municipal leaders. #ConnectingCommunities #DrivingGrowth @ONRuralAffairs #FONOM

The EOWC hosted a successful Queen’s Park Advocacy Day. The event included a reception where the EOWC highlighted its three advocacy priorities: 🔹strengthening municipal infrastructure, 🔹enhancing eastern Ontario’s economic resilience, and 🔹improving health care access. A sincere thank you to House Leader @SteveClarkPC for being an EOWC champion and sponsoring us at Queen’s Park, and to Premier @fordnation, Minister @RobFlackEML , MPP Steven Blais, and MPP @MikeSchreiner for meeting with the EOWC to bring remarks. The day included 16 meetings with provincial Ministers, Members of Provincial Parliament, and senior staff. The EOWC extends its appreciation to Ministers @RobFlackEML, @LisaThompsonPC, @PrabSarkaria, @nolanmquinn, @TeamKerzner, @DavidPiccini, and @Graydonthempp ; Parliamentary Assistants @DaveSmithPtbo, Michelle Cooper and Silvia Gualtieri; House Leader @SteveClarkPC ; MPP @tedhsu; and staff from the Premier’s Office, the Ministry of Red Tape Reduction, and the Ministry of Health. The EOWC was also pleased to welcome valued business and community partners, including Miranda Water Technologies, Valley Bio/Stone Farms, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Plaintree Systems, Haliburton Forest, Lodestar Structures, Anchor Concrete, Picton Terminals, and the Hamilton–Oshawa Port Authority. The day reinforced the importance of collaboration across all levels of government. The EOWC remains ready to work and ready to grow with the Ontario Government.
