About a month after Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick was shot and killed I started having anxiety attacks. I couldn't wrap my head around what happened, I had just walked by a few minutes before to grab food at the store and never heard the shots with headphones in. I felt guilty that I was fine and he wasn't. As time went on, my anxiety got worse and worse. I felt stuck and alone, and did everything possible to hide my anxiety. I tried my hardest to bury my feelings and it was slowly eating me away. At Scott's funeral the pastor said the light always shines in the dark and that stuck with me and gave me hope to keep going. One day 7 years later I woke up and randomly ended up calling a therapy office in the north metro and they said its gonna be okay, help is here. That day is when I learned that the light really does shine in the darkness because I finally realized I wasn't alone and that I can deal with this anxiety no matter how much it hurts. You aren't alone, and you aren't broken. People care about you. Heroes like Scott exist in this world, people you don't even know care about your well being and your safety. It gets better no matter how much it hurts now.

@JeffreyJLunde Is that the Ivy Tower (name from the 80s when I worked next door)? I did safety inspections of Lufkin/Smithkline & the lower floors of the Ivy Tower rented by the lab. It was 80+ years old back then. A high rise building replaced the 2-story lab facility on 11th/2nd streets.

I always thought this was a cool building. It had character and different style.

New equipment is on the move from Minneapolis to Dallas. BNSF is currently bringing cars from the now-defunct Northstar commuter rail line down south to Dallas for service on the Trinity Railway Express during the World Cup.

@emfoxhall In listening to parts of the testimony to lawmakers, there also doesn’t seem to be a mechanism or understanding by the local EMS leadership team of the need to notify the others of an illness before a major holiday weekend, regardless of whether severe storms were expected.⚠️💤🌀
