@usmanashraff I have been trading since 1997, and blew my first 100K by not applying stops, as I was away on a Disney vacation in 2000. That taught me a lesson I will never forget. My losses are now small and controlled. I allow runners until I get stopped out by my placed stops! 😉

Hey everyone, I have been in mental breakdown past two days and finally to calm myself down. I never cried too hard in my life. Many of you knew me as the guy who turned $300 into $200,000–$300,000 in just a few months trading $SPY. Lately there’s been a lot of positive and negative noise around me, but today hit the hardest. My biggest mistake was pure ignorance and sizing way too big despite solid advice from experienced traders here. I ignored it at times, and today I paid the full price for it. To be honest, I’m left with $10,000. It’s only April, with 8 months left in 2026. I’m determined to build it back up. This lesson will stay with me forever. To all the traders out there: please use my story as a warning. Don’t be like me, control your emotions and your size. And I will continue to post about $SPY and others, I deeply appreciate every single one of you on here.🙇‍♂️

@EllyDtrades I went to 90% cash, and maybe that was a mistake by missing a big move up. However, I am happy to have cash in hand and wait for an A+ set up when I see one or two. I really don’t need more than one, or two, as this prolonged chop session is not my cup of tea. 😉

@TradersConf Stay out of chop, stay out of consolidation, and be sure to use stops. Don’t let a green trade turn red by more than one candle. Don’t fear, as fear is your enemy if it causes you to freeze during a trade. I upgrade my levels daily. This all helps.

I'm 25 years old. I started learning trading in 2021. Now its been 5 years and I'm still unprofitable. In this 5 years I used to focus on trading for 2-3 months and learn something and after the lossess i always stopped for 5-6 months then again start it... Now after 5 years I've passed the phase 1 of funded account with so much discipline. But still I'm afraid that 5 years is more than enough and now again something would be wrong by me and then I have to stop it all.

@EllyDtrades No struggling on my end. I use the purple profit… 8 ema, the 50, 167 simple moving averages, and the Strat Strategy (1-2-3) candle formations that has kept me green through the chop storm.

If you’re wondering why you’re struggling here’s why and how to fix it. The market has been in a range for months. The last 3 years you could just buy calls and make money. Now it’s a different environment. You have the $VIX closing in on 30 and a lot of names below their 200emas (the opposite of bullish.) When volatility is high the options premiums are more expensive. Meaning if you don’t get a big move your contracts will barely move. On the contrary any move that goes against you, even slightly, you’ll have a bigger draw down. The question becomes how do you fix this? It’s easy. - avoid 0dte chop. Wicks in the mouth will destroy you. -focus on bigger picture 30m setups -avoid first 10 minutes of the day when IV is at the max -focus on TRENDING assets (ie stocks that moving) -pinpoint sniper entries are a must. You cannot slap like the old days. -outside day setups with news will move independently. What’s my prediction for the future of the market? The longer we chop the more time the 200ema has to catch up to the market. That will be the ultimate test imo. However, I don’t make predictions I just follow my system. Once I start thinking I’m smarter than the market I get bagged.

@tkhan62 @usmanashraff Risk Management, cut losses quickly, allow a few runners when in a green trade. Only take A+ set ups. Trading is much harder now than it was just a couple years ago.

@TradersConf @thekingalvan Half true. Slow & steady, It’s never boring for me. Apparently he needs to learn price action, supply, demand, resistance, mark all important levels on several time frames, and have a good understanding of waiting for the retest of the intended move before entering a trade.

I completely blew up my life trading. Lost my life savings (7 figures) and put myself in $250k of debt. It will take 10 years to pay it back with my very normal day job. Deep down though, I still want to go back to trading one day, and I still think I can make it work.

@TradersConf @eligos It’s never boring. I enjoy trading. I choose my work because I enjoy what I am doing. I don’t view patience as being boring… it’s actually relaxing for me.

@unusual_whales I was there in 2000, made my first 100k, only to lose most of it in dot com stocks! Trading AOL shares at the time. Man did my stocks drop like lead! I was vacationing in Florida that week with my 12 year old daughter celebrating my win. 🤦‍♀️
