Yesterday I attended court to assist a gentleman who had fallen on hard times and could not afford a solicitor or barrister. Before the matter could even get moving, the opposing side spent nearly an hour trying to have me removed from the court. Their argument appeared to rely heavily on an article written about me, suggesting I was somehow “quasi-professional”. I explained to the judge that I was there free of charge, as I often am, to help people who are in difficulty and who otherwise might have nobody standing beside them. After hearing the position, the court allowed me a right of audience. That matters. Because access to justice should not depend on how much money someone has in their pocket. Sometimes people just need someone willing to show up, help them understand the process, and make sure their voice is actually heard.

Yet a snake is a reptile with no conscience. We chase the man for answers because man is supposed to be a creature with integrity, capable of empathy, regret and remorse.
How disappointing to discover the man is in fact just another cold blooded snake.

MY surgeon joking in Oct 2012 about damage caused by the #perinealpost to one of his patients. He states how he proceeded anyway even though he had the wrong sized post. Not all patients recover, some of us are left with devastating permanent sexual dysfunction. #wilfulneglect

A snapshot of Scotland in 2026.
I get a call last night to tell me that some little arseholes have broken into a building I own, they have kicked in a window and started a bonfire outside. And are generally being tossers.
I call for a repair team to go out, they cant get there till tomorrow.
I call Police Scotland, I wait for 15 mins on hold. I explain that I'm currently in England, the building is dangerous, they have broken in and I'm worried they might stupidly harm themselves.
No call back, no feedback, left in the dark as to what the fuck is going on, have they attended, who knows?
But if one of the little arseholes has hurt themselves I'm sure I will be getting it in the neck, even though they broke in!

Tomorrow I will be attending a public hearing in an unnamed court in Edinburgh, where I will be representing a woman seeking to have her appeal allowed to proceed.
At the heart of it is an attempt to reopen issues arising from a case with roots going back around 10 years, including how allegations of rape and sexual misconduct were handled, how that affected her employment, and whether those matters were shut out from being properly heard.
This is not about sensationalising trauma. It is about open justice, accountability, and whether a woman who says she was failed by systems of power is entitled to have arguable legal issues heard.
