@PaulDooley17 @EssexPR Thanks, I’ll get there. Unfortunately we didn’t have children together so I’m not entitled to Bereavement Support Payment 😐. £3k would’ve been insanely helpful! Never mind. Things can only get better! 🤞 My partner was a successful writer and he taught me so much ✍️ ❤️

@LittleMiss1979 @EssexPR Oh my gosh thats a tragedy. Vet bills are super expensive I do think there needs to be regulation. I hear you. Not sure where you are but there may be food banks. Everything is so expensive. Things will change much like the tide

@PaulDooley17 @EssexPR Thank you so much. Our dog passed 4m later. Had to rely on family to help with sudden vet bills 😔. Trying to get back on my feet as best I can. It’s expensive running a house on your own and my p/t wages drop soon. But hey ho, one just has to plod on! Writing saves my life! 👩🏻‍💻

@ClaireCoutinho CHILDLESS people pay tax too. And, in my case, my partner’s died and I’m now trying to run a house alone, and struggling in bad health from caring for him. I pay my taxes, I’m entitled to ZERO state help, despite a very modest income. Please don’t forget those like me!!!

Many couples work hard, but cannot afford to have another child. Yet from this week, they’ll be paying more in tax so that couples on welfare with four, five, or six children receive more in benefits. This is not fair. It is not compassionate to make welfare pay more than work.

@antoniabance Thanks for replying. I’m in contact but it seems unlikely I’ll qualify for anything. I get that families need help, but there are so many people on their own who need help, only bringing one low wage in, but still have a house to run. It’s more expensive living on your own!! 😔

@LittleMiss1979 I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. It’s always worth checking with Citizens Advice about what you are entitled to - you could well be entitled to some universal credit and maybe help with rent if your wages are low

@EssexPR P.S. I was his sole carer for years and my health has been affected. Two bereavements close together, a low income (just don’t have the energy for full-time atm), and yet people like me get nowt. I feel chucked in the gutter!!!

@EssexPR Lost my partner from a terminal illness last Feb & our dog 4 months later. We’d lived together 7yrs BUT didn’t have kids together—and cuz of this I don’t qualify for ANY govt bereavement support (c.£3k)! Money now so tight 😔 . Many childless others in this position. So unfair!

Benefits should be for the genuinely hard up, disabled & for those that have lost everything through no fault of their own. It should not be for anxiety, adhd, or those that choose a life of living off the state. Blair & Brown created Benefit Britain …Starmer is accelerating it

Happy that Reform UK will reinstate the two child benefit gap, taxpayers can no longer afford to pay for as many children as some believe they are entitled to...

My life: Nigel died 6/2/2025; Biddy 🐾 died 15/6/2025 (Father’s Day ❤️). I was with Nigel (& Bid) to the end—his sole carer. I keep writing—it honours him ✍️ #SilentWitness was Nigel’s & the title has a double meaning to us—something only we 2 understand. Miss you both 🙏 #bbc

This was completely unacceptable. The minute @TiceRichard heard about it, he sent one of his team straight to the hospital. An hour and a half later this brave veteran was being properly looked after on the ward. We all hope he’s on the mend soon!

Here is my father, 92, still sitting in A&E after 21+hrs. A war veteran who saw active service! How can this be right, heartbreaking seeing mum and dad "making the best of it". What can I do? Nothing. So wrong to be treated in such a way. @TiceRichard

@bobbillco A wonderful man. I still have almost 100 letters in my Dad’s Army collection that Bill wrote to me over c.15 years. A true gentleman.

Bill Pertwee features as today's Dad's Army Trump card. As Chief ARP Warden Hodges he portrayed Captain Mainwaring's arch rival and local nemesis. Vying for recognition and use of the church hall and Vicar's office. His nickname for Captain Mainwaring was Napoleon. #DadsArmy

Most people know 1907 as the date of the first TT, but it was actually earlier. On September 14, 1905, exactly 120 years ago, the Isle of Man hosted the very first Tourist Trophy. It was still a car race at the time and these are original images from it, animated with AI
