@KelseyMPH I LOVE that you did that. I was in the ICU on a ventilator and I could not move, could not see, but I could feel and hear many things which were horrifying, especially if I was not treated as a person, but rather, a body in a bed. You never know what patients will remember.

@rachioco I am haunted by this equipment that disconnects and it seems to take a week (still waiting) for someone in tech support to force the controller to my account. This is the buggiest piece of equip I have ever used and at this point would request a replacement but can't get support.

Today one of my breast cancer patients was placed under general anesthesia before I had seen her, marked her, or signed her chart. That should never happen. This is not the first time I have walked into a hospital and found that the rules were treated like suggestions. Surgery is not an assembly line. These are human beings. They deserve to be seen, evaluated, marked, and spoken to before anesthesia is administered. When I asked for an explanation, I was met with defensiveness instead of accountability. And here is the deeper issue. I am often told by insurance companies where I am allowed to operate. Even when I know that another facility is safer. Even when patterns like this have already occurred. Physicians should be able to choose the safest environment for their patients. Insurance contracts should not override safety standards. I am tired. But I am not going to be quiet. We have to build a system where surgeons can vote with their feet and take patients where protocols are followed and safety comes first. Our patients deserve better.

@C4HCO And the Connect for Colorado website has not been working. Clients cannot reach anyone by phone and the chat says there is no one there to help. Not a great way to start the year for 2026 if clients cannot sign up or access help to enroll.

The deadline to get health insurance coverage that starts on 1/1/2026 is only one week away! You can still enroll in health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado through January 15, 2026. But if you miss the 12/15 deadline, your coverage will not begin until 2/1/2026.

@Labcorp The patient, especially those, over 65 years old, should not be expected to solve problems with billing on their own. If @Medicare says that the bill contains duplicate charges on lab tests that were denied, pls investigate this and do not expect pts to fix your billing problems.

@Labcorp, Pt. has received invoice for services from Medicare that are, according to Medicare, duplicate billing errors from @LabCorp as well as services paid by Medicare. Your billing dept rep is not helping and basically saying they, and supervisor can do nothing about this.

Something has to change. After operating all day and doing two DIEP flap cases, I saw a woman who had driven hours across Texas to get help. She has a history of breast cancer, had implant reconstruction, and had radiation on one side. And we know this, radiation and implants don’t mix. She developed signs of infection. Her incisions opened, fluid was draining, and she went to an ER and even called her plastic surgeon for help. The surgeon who initially performed her reconstruction told her, “I don’t take your insurance anymore.” She continued working and looking for help while the infection got worse. Because her insurance reimburses so poorly, she couldn’t find someone to operate on her. Eventually, she made it to our practice where we took care of her. Our plan is to treat the infection and then perform a flap reconstruction so she can finally heal. It’s a privilege to have her trust and to take care of her. But I want to say this clearly: This level of heroic effort is not the answer longterm. We need a sustainable system that is applying pressures in the right direction. And we need to agree on what healthcare services should be available to all Americans.

Don’t let the GOP’s lies fool you: undocumented immigrants can’t get Medicaid, Medicare, or Obamacare. The only way in which the federal govt might pay for their healthcare is through ERs, which are required to give emergency care to all people. It’s been a hard few weeks for me and my family. We got sick and tested negative for COVID on 8 rapid antigen tests. Not sure what we've had. Still recovering. I hope to get back to Novavax updates as things improve, but I am faced with some tough life challenges.

Novavax availability update. Working on finding access to Novavax for Colorado and Arizona pts today. Have a lead in Colorado who is willing to order #Novavax. Waiting to confirm order placed. #Strive compounding pharmacy in Arizona said "no" they will not order Novavax.

#Novavax availability at Walmart pharmacies in Mesa, Arizona. Patients are reporting shots in arms. A few days ago, Novavax was not listed online, so call first to verify availability and mention Nuvaxovid and Novavax as some techs do not know it's the same thing. #COVID

Just off phone with pharmacist in Colorado who initially said they have no input or ability to order a specific vaccine and they would not be getting #Novavax, but then said I should check back later in week as they may get shipments in late in the week.
