#WAMSC were out on patrol with their PC Co-Ordinator in 2 cars on a burglary op last night. The vehicle below failed to stop for us and led us on a pursuit across W. London. Driver arrested for Theft MV, Possession Weapon, Disqual Driving & Drugs. Passenger also arrested.

@TheResponseCop @CollegeofPolice Should be a 3 day add on course to response for covert driving. There is an advanced option but the 3 day add on would be sufficient if the car isn’t an advanced.

@specials_101 @sc_survey I think this is negated by having a criteria for eligibility; minimum service in line with regs, achieved IP status and recommended by line manager. As with all specials there's a business case that is investing 1k+ in a taser course a good ROI for someone who only does 16hrs...

@sc_survey But for the MSC to fully train and onboard a bunch of SC who leave within their first few months to join regs but are too bored to wait is financially sensible of course. And to roll out job phones to every SC including those who then leave and have to return them 2 weeks later..

"Not financially sensible" was the reason I was told. So according to the force the safety of an SC is less valuable than the cost of training and kitting out with Taser. They wondered why I'm moving to another force.

Another year we’re not given the same protections as colleagues in BTP, for reasons that are still unclear to me. Lost count of the number of suspects we’ve arrested in 2023 alone who were found with knives after being searched. Why can’t we be afforded the same protection?
