@NeverSinkDev If modding for @Quin69 taught me one thing, its that at times the point gets lost along the way. You could start with the most good faith interaction, but through lack of nuance in text and ego getting in the way (of either side), you often end up in an unnecessarily toxic moment

I have several friends, who do content creation complain about negative comments and haters getting under their skin. Such attacks are unfortunate and unavoidable in the online space. It's sad that this affects some incredible content creators. Personally, after having a lot of troubles dealing with this in the past, I've set a very clear set of personal standards. I differ between: - Criticism - Toxicity - Toxic Criticism - Anger CRITICISM: (intent: convey information/issues/improvements) Engage with it. There is strength in admitting flaws, being able to say "you're right" and taking a hit to your creative ego. TOXICITY (intent: get your attention and make you feel bad) Follow these rules. Never deviate: 1) Minimize engagement. Their goal IS to get your attention. Engaging with them gives them what they want and robs you of your precious time. 2) Ignore, block or (shadow)ban anyone who's obviously toxic. It's your Youtube/Twitter/Twitch space. You're not weak for doing it. This has nothing to do with 'freedom of speech' either. 3) Do NOT make your content defensive. Don't justify yourself, because some troll tried to get under your skin a year ago. Don't forget - the goal of these comments is to make you hurt and to feel control. TOXIC CRITICISM: In this case people disguise a minimum amount of valid concerns, with a LOT of hatred, lies, misinformation and personal attacks. Treat EXACTLY as toxicity. This sets a precedent for future communication. ANGER: (intent: convey frustration) If you notice a substantial part of your community is clearly angry - ask yourself - what did YOU do. This is not toxicity. You're not infallible. Address the anger. Accept responsibility. Do NOT try to hide things. Distinguishing between these 4 types is important. What are your experiences?

AI guys plague every website with the equivalent of raw sewage making the platform unusable for anyone seeking something genuine. They'll spend years trying to convince you it's a good thing. Then one account gets more likes then them and they cry about "platform manipulation" 💀
