I'll give Asha some grace and see what actions are taken as CEO, but we all know better than to take everything at face value with Xbox. It's not like announcing his retirement 4 months ago would change people's perception about "some random AI lady" becoming CEO. Same talking points, just earlier.

Yeah I'm just calling it drama because that's what the internet's treating it as I don't think it's that much of a big deal myself... People have asked for years when Phil would retire and have been expecting it and people have also noticed how he's been pretty quiet the last half a year or so, so I don't think any of this was a big surprise. At least internally. Maybe Sarah's part, but even that I don't think is as much of a surprise as people are trying to make it out to be. She's at least had several weeks knowledge and is actively working on a transition. Not like they just handed her box of stuff and walked her out the door. I do think if they had offered her Phil's job she would still be there but I think they really wanted new eyes and perspective at the top and Sarah wasn't interested in being overlooked. But Matt seems to be happy where he was and so he will take the promotion happily.

But this was before Phil decided and he probably didn't want some awkward shoutouts and stuff at showcases or TGAs or whatever. Sarah Bond leaving might be drama, but not this.
