@RheaCrossy8 @Doortobe Sure but I wouldn't say that means chess is stagnant. Also community made thinfs are fundamentally different than company made ones in my eyes

Real question, why do new Fighting games even need to release? From my perception there seems to be like +15 good ones, cant all the players go there forever? This is what people do in every other PVP genre mostly, Counter strike has like 3 releases in 25 years

@Evilagram He absolutely does put a lot of effort into them, and he's exploring concepts you apparently couldn't find in 15 years of writing about game design, until Boghog shoved them in your face of course. Enjoy combobreaker

@LocalBtnMasher I'm gonna be plain with you, you are holding Mark to lax standards either because he's on your side or because your standards aren't as high as they should be for games criticism. Mark's videos are nothing special. He doesn't put a lot of effort into them. He knows this.

@Evilagram You are rejecting the idea that what is put out there forms the social fabric that games are made in. That is an anti-materialist position. Its also one compatible with the current industry status quo, if we want to get political. You preach pragmatism, put it in practice

@LocalBtnMasher I think it's utterly unimportant to talk about what scores IGN gave a game decades ago. It's the kind of thing someone with a chip on their shoulder does, not the kind of thing someone actually interested in promoting a deeper understanding of games does.

@LocalBtnMasher I don't think there's a universe in which I could be confused for a reactionary. I'm trans. I tweeted about anti-racism yesterday. Mark is not doing this. Mark has told me directly that he doesn't want politics in his videos.

@Evilagram I dont think you need to study Das Kapital to call out ignorant IGN devs giving spikeout a bad score because they dont see value in Arcade games or their design. Thats not a reasonable expectation of people

@LocalBtnMasher Look, get Mark to say "trans rights", "black lives matter" or "game workers should unionize" in a video and I'll back off. Otherwise, I just think you're being willfully ignorant.

@Evilagram Like if we are going to ascribe blame based on how people's words can be interpreted, I could very well start interrogating if you hold the correct anti-capitalist views, especially considering your position in an institution and your connections to industry. I dont do that tho

@Evilagram Hitler was originally a social democrat and the writings of Nazi Germany and fascist Italy are full of anti-capital messaging. I assume this hasn't influenced how you deliver your stance? His videos ascribe plenty of issues on companies

@LocalBtnMasher If you signal that you are against games journalists without also signaling that you are progressive, then you just end up looking like a reactionary, and Mark has refused to include progressive or anti-capitalist signaling in his videos.

@LocalBtnMasher I've considered giving Mark feedback, specifically on his stellar blade video, which I found disappointing, but in every interaction I've had with him, he's made it clear he won't listen to feedback. Especially not feedback on sounding like less of a reactionary.

the fact blader doesn't get ratio'd in the qrts for every tweet he types convinces me he has some sort of stand that makes a pocket dimension that bends the public discourse around his own dumbass takes. literally 10 immediately obvious answers to this (ex. COMPANIES WANT MONEY)

@TheBiggestYonk Is the RTS genre in a bad spot now? A lot of its games have active communities, and Starcraft is incredibly popular and not niche at all. Why is being niche a bad thing?

@LocalBtnMasher For a Youtuber who analyses game design, you don't really consider the idea that New things make money at all? I mean, what you are kind of asking is that a niche genre basically die on the spot because all the good games have been made. Do you want the RTS genre?

@jebfromwallmart Even more, the revived intrest can get new players in, so there is still some flow of new, just like sports in general, or chess.

@jebfromwallmart Fair, however, i dont think the entire FGC community is actually that good, its varying skill levels. If a social push rejects new games and gets a lot of people to move back to a consolidated one, then you would have a larger variety of skill levels.

@YZY_CCK_SCK @ssjgssjgojira4 @RoytaMustDie @Argos_dk if an enemy has you IN Block stun and another one goes in to grab you, it cant be avoided. Meanwhile if you have meter neither enemy can go through the Block. The move does not have a natural counter, it relies on a finite resource being empty for it to be balanced

@Speedkicks So i am wondering maybe its just better to look back and consolidate around what exists to be able to get into the phase of competition eternally. Some people brought up the value of the "exloration phase" but idk i think from a sport pov it makes more sense to consolidate

@Speedkicks From a player standpoint. When you look at other PVP games that blur the line between game and sport, they are consolidated, CSGO was the main CS to play for 11 years, not too different from chess. The question arose from seeing experienced players overall unhappy with new
