Christ being King of all nations, and the world being created in accordance with the Divine Logos, leads me to believe that the arc of tech naturally bends to the Good. Not incorruptibly, and not in every case, but I do think we have more to gain than to fear from the doodads.

No. In a theological framework, the gods form a superstate which punishes states and people for failing to enforce natural rights whether a human legal framework exists or not. Now, it is true, if the gods do not exist, neither do natural rights. But the gods exist.
Derek Pederson 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇻🇪@DerekPederson3

“Natural rights” are just a deliberate blurring of the is/ought distinction. They’re just things that you think the government ought to protect as a guaranteed right. Rights only make sense as a concept within the legal framework of a state though.

@IFFFMEISTER If grace, life, and salvation comes to me in orange and purple polka dots, I don't see as I have cause to complain.

Maybe. I'm not taking it too seriously. Yes, Rome's position is that she is the church rather than a church. Yes, as an acolyte of Rome, Vance, ought to have represented her position accurately. Yes, as a protestant, I am amused and gratified that he didn't. If someone wants to take it deeper than that, it's on them.

This is as good a springboard as any for something that tickles my brain cells. So the context for Genesis is that Moses is writing on the way to the Promised Land, wherein pagans sacrifice children to Moloch. And one of the goals is to encourage the Israelites to not do that. In that light, the Binding of Isaac reads completely opposite to the way Reddit Atheists read it: Here is Abraham, who is just as devout as any Moloch-worshipper. In fact, since Abraham is a geezer, and Isaac is probably a teen, both Abraham and Isaac are more devout than the Moloch worshippers. But Yahweh isn't into that. It is a repudiation of child-sacrifice, not an endorsement.

Old Tory Right - Scholastic Fundamentalist
A lot of people need their enemies to not just be wrong, but of entirely bad character or stupid. Of course, in the real world, genuinely smart people with redeeming qualities believe all sorts of things.

The Nazis at Nürnberg didn’t beg for mercy before they were executed. Neither did Mussolini or Saddam. This is just a pathetic and impotent power fantasy, strong men face death with defiance and bravery
