Another interesting error in the reform 2025 ltd accounts. -The notes to the 2023 accounts show that £200k of the loan was repaid to Tisun in June 24 - In the 2024 accounts they have copied over the same note w/o updating it. - the note should have said that in Jan 25 £270k was repaid and £613k converted into a donation. -was this a lack of care/ competence or a deliberate omission? 😕

The latest accounts for Tisun investments ( to Dec 24) show a £883k loan to a company with a common director. - this company is Reform. You can see the opposite side in their accounts, also to Dec 24 - after the filling date £613k of this loan was converted into a donation.

Big news - we've decided to follow the latest 2004 tech trends and set up a Facebook page. Please tell all your friends/grandparents facebook.com/taxpolicyassoc… Currently zero followers - hoping to make it to seven by end today.

@DAaronovitch When I started work in east London in 1988, we had a cafe around the corner which had been in the same Italian family for years. Every morning at 6.30am, the matriarch swept the pavement and gutter in front of her shop and washed it down. It was proper pride in where she lived.

I do think shopkeepers and business owners should take some responsibility for cleaning up rubbish outside their businesses, whether or not they're responsible for it. In most cases it really would take minimal effort.

@London_FCA Thanks, Graham. I have a half written piece about political party tax generally. Lots of sloppiness and IMO a failure to properly separate allowable from non-allowable expenses.

@DanNeidle I don’t think k you need a deep dive into the Labour prop co, as they nicely filed their detailed P&L in the 2022 accounts which shows why they have no profit and no tax. However the 2024 accounts look like someone did them on a fag packet, and have odd round numbers.

@IanCallaway352 I once met the two ladies who made this. We were having a tour of the “factory”, it was small. My colleague was gushing about how brilliant it was to meet them. They were confused why this posh bloke was so effusive over their day job, which did involve smelling of anchovies.

Every day brings sad news of the demise of England. The end of yet another independent school - my daughter’s former alma mater - St. Lawrence College, Ramsgate, and the end of #GentlemansRelish. Small matters to some. But indicative of so much.

Not one star. 60 years of technological progress with cameras… And not one star. I’ve heard all the explanations for this… None make any sense.

@colinrtalbot @DAaronovitch @Tontkowalski I think that’s a personal view of the news cycle. It’ll be there for a while and then gone soon. For a while it could lead the front page of the website, and probably should (for reasons above).

@DAaronovitch @London_FCA @Tontkowalski True. Of course they need to report it. Fairly prominently. But it didn’t need to be the lead. Nor did it need almost 10 mins to tell us he’s been sacked but they can’t tell us why? As all too often it comes across as self-obsession by the Beeb.

SCOTT MILLS - BBC LOSES ITS MIND? Why is it #1 item on the news? Many of us (including everyone in our household) have no idea who he is. BBC as all too often loses objectivity when the story is about itself?

@Tontkowalski @DAaronovitch @colinrtalbot Then follows a Telegraph headline: “BBC attempt to hide bad news away from the front page of their website. Refuse to address it. Ban the BBC.” Another possible issue with a presenter, post Savile, Brand, Edwards, Travis, etc. is something they need to address head on.

@DAaronovitch @colinrtalbot I suppose BBC News know they need to cover the subject as it’s another public facing employee aledgedly caught in a scandal. If they don’t cover it then the BBC as a whole will be accused of trying to cover it up.

@Rainbowbright70 @YouGov No. It’s compared to the National Crime Survey for England & Wales, which is done consistently every year in an attempt to see what is really happening and to avoid the confusion created by changes in reporting or recording practices. The Youvov article links to the data.

@TheSimonEvans It is amazing how, like you said, so many classic British comedies revolve around a sad group of (usually) men, stuck together for some reason and “circling the drain”. Bottom being an excellent example. Porridge being another.

I seem to have upset the @Nigel_Farage fan club - so let me be clear. This man sows hate, lies and division. He is a grifter and a conman. He does not represent the vast majority of Britons. RT if you agree P.s. multiculturalism is great.
