It’s that they lost credibility over the years, do not talk about the issues people are concerned about and were propped up by their competition being censored. It’s also hard to make moral arguments when your main guy enthusiastically supports the killing of tens of thousands of children abd wrote an article arguing for literal ethnic cleansing.
Things happen for more than one reason in the real world.

Grifting like this, and health quackery broadly, seems to be endemic to the right wing. I’m not embedded in the liberal or left spheres, and I’m sure they have lots of problems, but nothing like this.
