Toccata, Kaspa's next consensus upgrade, is currently targeted for mid to late June. Here's what it means for the ecosystem and for Igra. What is Toccata? Toccata is the first major Kaspa hard fork since Crescendo. It is a foundational shift towards new L1-native primitives and a stronger base for the execution layers built on Kaspa. What features does Toccata add to Kaspa L1? - Covenants: Kaspa-native primitives for enforcing how KAS can be spent. Enables future native L1 assets and vault-like designs. - ZK opcodes: Groth16 and RISC Zero STARKs verification on Kaspa. Cryptographic groundwork that future capabilities like vProgs and trust-minimized bridges will build on. - Partitioned sequencing: application-specific lanes that let L1 applications and execution layers maintain isolated transaction history. This scales L1 by isolating each application's data. How does Toccata relate to rollups? These primitives are additive to existing execution architectures on Kaspa. EVM rollups like Igra already operate on Kaspa. L1-native capabilities advance in parallel: native Kaspa assets, including potential native stablecoins, become possible as the primitives mature. What does it mean for Igra? Several changes for teams integrating with Igra at the L1 level:wy Igra release. We are migrating from txid_mask grinding to a dedicated IGRA lane with updated ATAN storage format and deployment tooling. We are integrating with TN12 and TN10 (where the DAA score transition will be tested) and runnwing our own devnet on the Toccata branch for repeated fork simulation. What does it mean for the Igra ecosystem? Several changes for teams integrating with Igra at the L1 level: - Code that filters or searches for Igra transactions on L1 will need to add a subnet check. - Code that generates Igra entry transactions (wallets, bridges) will need to include the correct subnet. More details here: t.me/IgraCommunity/… We're considering a transition period to support the current prefix alongside the new subnet requirement; we'll communicate the decision as it firms up. What's the timeline for integration on Igra? Igra's Frigate testnet for Toccata integration will be available end of May. Expect several weeks of testing to validate the integration. If you're building on Igra, or plan to, reach out and we'll get you set up. What does it mean for Igra users and holders? Your iKAS and all other assets are safe. All bridges and protocols remain operational throughout the testing and upgrade window. Igra has navigated complex mainnet operations before with no asset loss, and we are preparing redundant testing infrastructure to simulate the fork transition extensively before mainnet deployment. No action required from you during this period. We will keep you informed at every step. Questions or comments? Please join our socials. $KAS will be the biggest listing ever for Coinbase. Remember the Kraken listing? It pulled insane engagement and some of the highest views they’ve ever had on a listing post. Now imagine what happens when Coinbase finally lists Kaspa. Wallet 1 might be Coinbase Follow me for more 🔥

$KAS upcoming Toccata hardfork. Most people still think Kaspa is only a fast proof-of-work payment network. The upcoming Toccata hard fork changes that narrative completely. Up until now, Kaspa’s identity has largely revolved around speed: high throughput, rapid confirmations, and its blockDAG architecture that allows multiple blocks to process simultaneously instead of forcing a single-chain bottleneck. But Toccata is about expanding what the network is actually capable of. The upgrade introduces a new programmable framework built directly into Kaspa’s base layer through “covenants.” At a basic level, covenants allow coins to carry execution rules that define how they can be spent later. Instead of transactions only verifying ownership, the network can also enforce future conditions tied to those funds. That opens the door to far more advanced transaction behavior. The implications are significant: → programmable vault systems → conditional transfers → native asset logic → decentralized financial primitives → trust-minimized interoperability → and more sophisticated application design What makes this especially interesting is how Kaspa is implementing programmability. Rather than copying Ethereum’s virtual machine model, Kaspa is extending its own UTXO-based architecture. The goal is to add functionality while preserving the network’s core design philosophy: scalability, parallelization, and proof-of-work security. Toccata also lays the groundwork for zero-knowledge functionality. The upgrade introduces cryptographic verification capabilities that can eventually support: → zk proofs → scalable off-chain computation → private validation systems → and advanced verification logic without exposing all underlying data This is important because zero-knowledge systems are increasingly viewed as one of the key technologies for scaling blockchain infrastructure long term. Another major piece is SilverScript, a new scripting environment designed specifically for Kaspa’s architecture. This creates the foundation for future programmable applications and more flexible transaction logic without abandoning the network’s lightweight design. The significance is that it establishes the technical base layer required for: → programmable assets → zk-powered systems → more complex applications → and future ecosystem expansion

New listing: kaspa:native Kaspa (KAS) is a proof-of-work Layer 1 blockchain built on a BlockDAG architecture, allowing multiple blocks to be confirmed simultaneously for high throughput without sacrificing decentralisation. Fair-launched in 2021 with no pre-mine or presale, KAS has already mined ~95% of its hard-capped 28.7B supply — a scarcity event approaching fast as remaining issuance closes out by late 2026. Recent market news: KAS has a circulating supply of ~27B tokens and a market cap recently cited around $1.0B–$1.06B USD. KAS is available now on Pepperstone Crypto 👉 pcrypto.com/en-au/convert/… #NewListing #AusCrypto #CryptoAustralia #BitcoinAustralia #PepperstoneCrypto #TradeCryptoAU

- hard forks don’t mean app breakage. especially with programmability, backward compatibility is a core requirement. existing apps/contracts should keep working as-is unless there’s some truly exceptional reason otherwise. - kaspa is still evolving, but not toward endless L1 forks. the zk-apps/vprogs vector should let the L1 converge into a versatile base surface while most future app innovation happens above it. the dk/100bps vector is also converging toward “perfect PoW properties”, so to speak, so it has a natural end horizon rather than an endless upgrade loop.

The upcoming upgrade was chosen without regards to vprogs, and no meaningful effort was made to optimize it for vprogs (definitely nothing delaying Tocatta by more than a few days). Tocatta is a principled implementation of bitcoin-originating covenants which, if ever implemented in bitcoin, would use the op_cat workaround. It is the default method to introduce programmability into a thin verification-oriented L1 to preserve its decentralized lean value prop. vprogs are outside core’s focus precisely because we are optimizing for usability over theoretical superiority. I hope this helps you and grok update your premise. (BTW counterexample to your claim about inevitability of fragmentation: Solana)

why I’m personally excited about Kaspa’s upcoming Toccata covenants - for the first time, I can build creative, complex apps directly over infrastructure I helped design and build - we designed under architectural constraints, but the result came out surprisingly expressive and powerful - Silverscript is cool as hell - I can literally open a *.sil file and write a complex contract that will be fully verified on Kaspa L1 - (nottoself: create a 10-minute video showing the building of such an app e2e) - I can design my own vaults and safeguards, and manage funds securely without risking a heart attack each time I touch a wallet - covenant ids, contract templates, and inter-covenant communication (ICC) feel like a new set of axioms, or a new algebra to work with and discover - sig verify from stack / sighash anyone-can-pay + covenant ids can allow interesting shared-state covenants (requires a non-consensus miner policy; kudos to @maxibitcat for pushing this line of thinking) - complex contract systems can be deployed in one spk hash. no storage rent, no deployment tax; users pay only the transient mass for tx data as they use it - as I’ve mentioned in the past, this becomes especially interesting for AI/agentic environments, where bots could cheaply create one-time agreements between themselves - I didn’t even mention based apps yet. That’s a whole vertical that isn’t ready for exploration yet, but will be very soon

This trend of $KAS outperforming Bitcoin will likely continue over long periods of time for three main reasons, in my opinion: 1. Massive technology differences - sound money participants will gravitate toward the technology that's easier to use with more use cases and programmability 2. Market cap differences - going from $1B MC to $10B market cap is much more likely and easier for a network to achieve than to go from $1.5T MC to $15T MC in the same time frame 3. Community - I've never seen a community as open minded, forward looking, and innovative as #Kaspa's. Even in the depths of the bear market, $KAS continues innovating, breaking records, and continues achieving the impossible. These three reasons make me bullish on $KAS. It's just getting started. Study #Kaspa.

MARA never mined anything besides Bitcoin, Until $KAS. This is the same mining giant closely tied to the institutional Bitcoin ecosystem the same world where Michael Saylor accumulates billions in BTC. You really think Saylor doesn’t know what Kaspa is? One day, Wallet 1 will reveal itself. When it does, the market will understand why smart money has been silently accumulating Kaspa all along.
