When a woman breaks up with you for reasons that appear “incoherent”, it is generally because there is a clear reason that would be so hurtful and devastating she is doing you a favour by lying and saying something like “I’m just in a weird place”
rayne fisher-quann@raynefq

I don’t know why she broke up with you either, man . Maybe it’s because she sensed on some level that you would one day write a smarmy armchair-anthropological thinkpiece about how her interests and aesthetic choices are a symptom of America’s decline

bugging out listening to this interview with the late prof mabalon about what happened when Chavez took over Itliong's movement. It went from a MILITANT Filipino organization that was used to fighting the KKK with knives to become a co-opted watered down "social movement"
marincountyconfidential@marindatanow

hey, look up this scholar, Mabalon. She can tell you about the REAL farmworker organizer, Larry Itliong. Mabalon is on a bunch of podcasts. You don't have to spend all night being aggravated about this stupid Chavez/Huerta "exposé" psy-op.🤣

I try to avoid using the term authentic when it comes to food. Cuisine is dynamic. When I hear the term: "authentic", my brain translates it to "calibrated to appeal to an Anglo palate." The food can be quite tasty, like a full English breakfast or a frozen pizza.

@ArthurCDent @unclouded I'm also partial to black beans. But my grandmother would make refried (mashed) pinto beans with pork fat and bits of bacon and they was pretty darn good.

@ArthurCDent @unclouded I'm Mexican and the birria looks great to me. I tend shy away from the term authentic. But, if I ate that birria I'd assume a Mexican made it. It looks delicious. The only item that would make me do a head tilt is the beans.

@unclouded So - I only make my own. And I've been to Mexico too, up in the Taxco region :) I'm sure it's not totally authentic though. For one, I can't get tomatillos!

You need to be unexamined life maxxing. You need to be lurching forward like a toad pouncing on an insect. You need to be oblivious to the consequences of your actions. You need to be less thoughtful than a farm animal. You need to be unexamined life maxxing

Federal courthouses spend a lot on security. Does this mean the Federal government is oppressed? Systematic = methodical, not systemic. There's a history of anti-govt & antisemitic violence in the US. Do those in power support violence? That might indicate systemic oppression

If synagogues, systemically, must spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on security to avoid a shooter coming in and killing all the children, is that an example of oppression?

The rot of corruption in Philippine society only persists because it has been so successfully enabled by and laundered by the private sector for all its history, which has been so successful that you get popular beliefs like this

Imagine kung Ayala Corp at San Mig Corp ang mga nasa pwesto sa gobyerno, isang malaking BGC siguro Pinas. Nakaplano lahat, covenient tranportation ( bus. Trains, airport, skyway, footbridge), malinis lahat, at world class health care system, etc. kung pwede lang no?
