Hi Sunder, hope you’re well. I think it’s quite hard to argue that the PM and everyone else are simply concerned with collective responsibility on the Tory front bench :) They think his comments are offensive and unconscionable. You’re right this doesn’t get directly into new definition but it’s rather discordant, no?

@LordWalney Why and how does it do that? He is a frontbencher, so there is collective responsibility, so if he is calling for a ban + it is not Opposition policy Did people calling on Rishi Sunak to suspend the whip from Lee Anderson - ahead of this definition - show that too? How? Why?

I’m not convinced Muslim prayer in Trafalgar Square is an act of dominance. Islam is hardly unique in considering itself the one true religion.. But the fact the PM thinks Nick Timothy should be sacked undermines the claim we are all free to criticise Islam despite the new anti-Muslim hostility definition.

There might be some short term political advantage for this pile-on, but calling for Nick Timothy to be sacked just highlights Labour’s vulnerability to claims it leaders run scared of challenging cultural questions

I suspect @AngelaRayner and I would not agree on how to fix it, but she is absolutely right that the Labour Party is currently heading for disaster. Unsure and scared of its own shadow, its captain would avoid sounding the alarm for fear of offending the iceberg.

A word about Phil Woolas. In 1985, antisemites persuaded a uniquely spineless Student Union in Sunderland to ban its Jewish society. For Zionism. In a foretaste of today, the racists paraded their virtue & enjoyed making 20 Jewish kids miserable. Quite a few “eminent” members 1/

Here is scumbag Bob Vylan standing under a poster of Khamenei with Neturei Karta as a backdrop, calling for death to Israeli soldiers on the streets of London in a rally sponsored by the Iranian regime. Britain, is this what you want to be?
