@BashirAhmaad People are certainly free to change their opinions, just as the voters remains free to judge them by their past actions and earlier positions. You may advocate for your candidate however you wish, but history and previous stances cannot simply be erased.

In fairness, we should not expect a person, especially someone as well educated as Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, to hold on to opinions and views formed over 20 years ago. A lot has changed within that period, society has evolved, realities have shifted and knowledge has expanded. Yet, some people still expect others to remain rigid-minded individuals, someone who insists on clinging to ideas, methods and ways of thinking from two or three decades ago and forcing them on today’s world. That is bad. If education, science and technology had not been continuously updated in line with global developments, the world would never have achieved the progress we see today, let alone human beings themselves. Growth is a product of learning, exposure and the willingness to reassess old positions. Prof. Pantami is absolutely right to change his opinions about politics and life, especially when his continuous pursuit of education and knowledge has shown him better and more informed paths than those he previously held. We should know that changing opinions and views in the face of deeper understanding is not a weakness, it is a mark of wisdom and intellectual maturity. So it is Pantami for Gombe 2027.

What Bovi Got Wrong About the January 15, 1966 Coup Yesterday, I watched a video by the comedian Kris Asimonye Ugboma, AKA Bovi, detailing the events of January 15, 1966. I commend him for his narrative. However, there was one detail which he inadvertently misstated, and which ought to be corrected lest it pass into history, as some Nigerians have a propensity to substitute myth for fact. Contrary to popular wisdom, Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu was not the mastermind of the coup which today bears his name. In reality, the so-called Nzeogwu coup was masterminded by Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna. Many Nigerians do not know that Nzeogwu wrote letters, which may be termed as an uncompleted manuscript, while in detention at Aba Prison, detailing some of the events of that infamous day. The letters were mostly to his best friend, who would later become a Nigerian military Head of State. Out of respect for him, I shall not mention his name. Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna also left behind an unpublished manuscript about the coup, which fell into the hands of the security services. The reason the coup is called the Nzeogwu coup is precisely the same reason the April 22, 1990 coup was called the Orkar Coup: they made the coup broadcast. In truth, Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna conceived of the January 15, 1966 coup and recruited Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu, while Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Nyiam was the initiator and planner of the April 22, 1990 coup, and merely recruited Major Gideon Orkar. Nzeogwu was a latecomer to the coup. Major Don Okafor was the co-planner with Ifeajuna. The Special Branch investigation into the failed coup suggests that Major Chris Anuforo recruited Nzeogwu into the plot. Anuforo was best friends with Nzeogwu, and they both attended the same secondary school, Saint John's College in Kaduna, and remained close-knit at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Also, the coup was not masterminded by or for Chief Awolowo as some persons claim. That was an afterthought after the coup attempt by those who wanted to divert blame for it and present it as a pan-Nigerian affair. Ifeajuna was from Onitsha, along with Nnamdi Azikiwe, and was described by some as Chief Azikiwe's cousin (although the Special Branch did not establish if there was really a blood relationship) and was a frequent visitor to Azikiwe's home. It is inconceivable that a close ally of Chief Azikiwe would plan a coup and then hand over power to his mortal political opponent. Moreover, nobody was sent to Calabar Prison during or after the coup. Chief Awolowo remained in jail until Colonel Gowon freed him from Calabar prison on August 2, 1966. Chief Awolowo was thereafter flown to Lagos, where he was received by Lt. Colonel Murtala Muhammed and personally driven by Murtala to Dodan Barracks to meet with Colonel Gowon. It was considered strange by the British Special Branch officers that Azikiwe went on a Caribbean cruise for his leave and, very conveniently, refused to return to Nigeria after it. His ADC, Orho Obada, who later rose to the rank of Major General, kept asking Chief Azikiwe when they would return to Nigeria, as his leave was over. He eventually abandoned Chief Azikiwe in Haiti and returned to Nigeria. But those saying Azikiwe was implicated in the coup are wrong. It was conjecture. Nobody really knows, as Emmanuel Ifeajuna was himself executed by Lt. Colonel Ojukwu on September 25, 1967, on allegations that he plotted to overthrow the Biafran government led by Ojukwu, and he never implicated Chief Azikiwe, nor did any of the documents seized by the Special Branch show any foreknowledge by Azikiwe. But that suspicion became even more heightened when Haiti provided support for Biafra when war broke out. Reno Omokri Gospeller. These are the facts of the two sides that can’t be disputed:Firstly,Secessionist IPOB supporters in the US are those who concocted, promoted, sponsored and hawked the issue of ‘Christian genocide’ with the aim of achieving their own goals.Secondly, the FG reportedly spent $9 million tax payers money to a lobby group in the US in order to counter the plot. The result is that we remain a ‘country of particular concern’ but working in partnership with the US to combat the terrorists.

Very good. Kano and Northern Nigeria know nothing good will come out of the US invading their land. It's worrying to imagine foreign intervention destabilising our communities. With this same energy, I'm begging our Northern brothers and sisters, let's get rid of Sharia law, no religious law have a place in our country... If we want a stable, inclusive country, religious law should inform personal belief, not replace the law of the land. Sharia Law might be great for private faith, terrible as compulsory public law. And while we're at it: dining with terrorists is not a networking strategy. There's no such thing as a conveniently timed repentant terror cell. Just saying.

Reno Omokri’s tweet comparing Peter Obi and Bola Ahmed Tinubu based on their environmental achievements as governors presents a biased and misleading narrative. Let’s break down his argument and challenge it with facts and counterpoints: ⸻ 🔁 CLAIM 1: “Erosion was destroying Anambra when Peter Obi was Governor, and he did little or nothing about it.” 🔄 REBUTTAL: This claim ignores documented efforts Peter Obi made during his tenure (2006–2014) to tackle erosion, which is a federal environmental issue, not solely a state-managed one. ✅ Facts: •Peter Obi declared erosion as Anambra’s greatest environmental threat during his tenure. •He partnered with the World Bank and the Federal Government to combat erosion through the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP). •Under Obi, the Anambra State Government identified over 900 erosion sites, of which more than 300 were categorized as severe. •Amachalla and Nanka erosion sites were among those that saw stabilization efforts with Obi’s initiative. •He established the Anambra State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (ASEWCCA) to ensure continuity of environmental programs. 👉 Erosion control is a capital-intensive, long-term project, and many of the erosion sites in Anambra predate Peter Obi’s administration. It’s misleading to claim he “did nothing.” ⸻ 🌊 CLAIM 2: “Tinubu tamed the mighty Atlantic Ocean and reclaimed land from it, which became Eko Atlantic City.” 🔄 REBUTTAL: This narrative grossly exaggerates Tinubu’s role in the Eko Atlantic project and ignores the private-sector-led nature of the development. ✅ Facts: •Eko Atlantic City was a private-public partnership primarily driven by South Energyx Nigeria Ltd (SENL), a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group. •The project officially began in 2009, when Babatunde Fashola, not Tinubu, was governor. •Tinubu may have initiated discussions, but the planning, implementation, and international partnerships occurred under his successor. •Moreover, Eko Atlantic was not a solution to flooding or ocean surge for the average Lagosian—it’s a luxury real estate project that serves the elite and has been criticized for contributing to flooding in nearby areas like Victoria Island and Lekki. 👉 Tinubu didn’t “tame” the ocean—he laid the groundwork for a commercial real estate venture led by private interests. It’s not a public environmental success story. ⸻ 🍽️ CLAIM 3: “That is why Peter Obi serves food, while President Tinubu serves Nigeria.” 🔄 REBUTTAL: This is a personal attack disguised as political commentary, lacking in substance. ✅ Facts: •Peter Obi is globally praised for his frugal and transparent leadership, saving over ₦75 billion in investments for Anambra before leaving office. •He built and improved over 1,000 schools, repaired and constructed over 800km of roads, and revamped the health sector, earning Anambra recognition from UNICEF and the World Bank. •Obi left behind no state debt and received commendation from organizations like the Debt Management Office (DMO). •His “serves food” label may stem from his known simplicity and philanthropy, such as visiting IDP camps and donating relief—acts of compassion, not weakness. 👉 In contrast, Tinubu’s presidency has seen widespread economic hardship, fuel subsidy mismanagement, and naira devaluation—real issues that affect Nigerians daily. ⸻ 🔚 Conclusion: Reno Omokri’s tweet simplifies complex governance challenges and twists facts to score political points. While both Tinubu and Obi have strengths and weaknesses, it’s intellectually dishonest to compare them using incomplete narratives.

Erosion was destroying Anambra when Peter Obi was Governor, and he did little or nothing about it. Erosion is still the number one environmental challenge in Anambra, and no solution has been found. The Atlantic Ocean was destroying Lagos under Tinubu as Governor, and Tinubu tamed the mighty Atlantic Ocean, and not just that, he reclaimed land from the Atlantic Ocean, and today that land, known as Eko Atlantic City, is the most expensive real estate in Nigeria and possibly in Africa. And you want me to leave the person who tamed an ocean to vote for the one who could not tame land? Tufiakwa! That is why Peter Obi serves food, while President Tinubu serves Nigeria!
