Last year I picked this card up for $250 on eBay. Now it’s pushing $2,000. 👀 Basically, all vintage Mewtwo PSA 10s are over $1,000. What is going on?

@RiceRiddler It’s fine. Theres people who’ve been in the hobby since it all started and dont know these things. Simply because they dont play the game just collect. I just happen to come across you original post and wanted to add what else impacted it. Beautiful card nonetheless. You’re good.

Posted this yesterday and got a bunch of comments from the Pokémon community on the accuracy of this tweet, so I’d like to humbly correct myself: This card pumped in popularity because of two things: • meta relevance of the card itself in the TCG at the time, and this particular Psyduck was only available in the ME 3-pack blister as a promo before Ascended Heroes set rereleased this card • the painting the artwork references is actually “Ophelia” by John Everett Millais I had remembered buying and ripping this blister pack months ago, then seeing a random tweet about it resembling a famous painting, hence the mistaken post. Huge shoutouts to @subvert_hk @GengarGuy_ @OfficialG4tv @LostKawss @Tsukento @GymLeaderVlad @_bismack_ @TeamPokeColors for the correction - still in the process of learning and loving this hobby, and certainly not a player. Been a fan of Pokémon since my childhood, and it’s been exciting delving deeper into the hobby as an adult. Apologies for anybody misinformed by my post ❤️

Anybody else remember when this ME Psyduck promo randomly ran to $17 because some post went viral about how it resembled Claude Monet’s “Bridge over a Pond of Water Lillies”? Gotta love this hobby - endless lore for the most random cards 🤣

@DragonKoiBoi I’ve always felt like the celebrations set was so lack luster. It was cool some reprints helped the average collector get some expensive cards for a cheaper price (gold star Umbreon, shining magikarp etc.) but the set sucked the promos were the best things.

The only card I’m truly bullish on from the Pokemon Celebrations set. Everything else is ass.

@knoyhead Surely they still do one later. I guess the question is if they’re just gonna slide it into the Rayquaza set, the 30th set, or maybe just be its own promo like the Shrouded Kingdra and Greninja were.

Not that Ascened Heroes NEEDS another unobtainable chase, but I'm still bitter a Mega Charizard Y ex SIR was snubbed from the set 😒
