@LottieFiles It survived, especially the peek, but it lost the subtlety. Custom lists are gone, so it feels way less like a small-group product. Even taking the photo felt more special before, there were small send animations and details that gave it more charm. You can see what i mean here

@vanschneider Spotify dark mode being controversial is insane to think about now. What made you confident enough to push for dark mode back then?

Fun fact you may not believe: when we redesigned Spotify 13 years ago, going dark mode was a controversial move. The entire music app landscape was light mode and even more funny, dark interfaces were widely dismissed and disliked by designers. It took a lot of convincing to push it through.

Engineers don't write code. PMs are shipping to production. The design process is dead (there's no time). Marketing can ship their own campaigns. SDRs are being replaced by AI. Everyone's a data scientist now. What a time to be alive.

@kelly_thepotato @LottieFiles the nesso bounce was all about the overshoot. too much and it looks like a toy, too little and you lose the character. kelly's reference research is what cracked it.

ok hear me out: every smart home app has the same generic lightbulb icon. i never know which lamp is which what if your actual lamps were the widgets? Nesso, Akari, PH5, Snoopy~ of course i had to put my dream designer lamps State machines in Lottie Creator from @LottieFiles, animated by @motion_mau

@kelly_thepotato @motion_mau Those little jumps are the whole personality right there! Was each lamp's personality decided upfront, or did you discover how they wanted to move as you went?

@LottieFiles I believe @motion_mau was having a little tricky time animating the Nesso lamp with its little jumps to give it some character. But it turned out spectacular
