Louisville permanently undermined its downtown to widen a highway bridge that drivers are now going *out of their way* not to use. A cautionary tale about hubris of the highway lobby. usa.streetsblog.org/2018/11/28/ken…

Ever wondered why a traffic light takes so long to turn green on a certain day? There are several factors - including where you stop your vehicle on red. @LouMetroDOT @LouMetroPDS

Deaths from traffic crashes are an epidemic in this city. We must make our streets safer in Louisville. That requires us to change the design of streets to slow car travel speeds. We need faster change.

I pretty often drive through this part of Broadway. A few days ago, I stopped for two people who had turned on the flashing crosswalk. But there were around 6-7 drivers ahead of me who didn't stop for the flashing lights. It's very challenging to cross even with the crosswalk.

Here's how you spend transportation infrastructure money. Expand a bridge to have 3 lanes... for passenger trains. Higher top speeds... for those trains. And a wide, separated bike and pedestrian area for everyone.

Chuck Schumer has announced a 215mil Crisi grant (Biggest ever) for the Livingston Ave bridge replacement in Albany. The newer bridge will have a higher top speed, wider and feature a walking path connecting Albany and Rensselaer. This will massively benefit Amtrak Empire trains.
