Through my studies of the NT, I'm beginning to believe that the Book of Romans is my favorite. It already has my favorite scripture verses. The first chapter is really based.

Why is it normal for young people to dress in robes, sit apart from family, receive formal instruction, wear square hats modeled after a mason’s mortarboard, line up ceremonially, ascend to a stage, receive hand grasps, and then return with a new status and identity... But a similar temple ritual is “cultish”? Society normalizes theatrical rituals of academia because it is secular. But mock the temple. Hugh Nibley once called graduation robes the “black robes of a false priesthood,” a medieval, worldly imitation that celebrates human ambition instead of divine truth. Perhaps temple worship isn't strange? Maybe modern people only respect ritual when God has been removed from it.

@antiantimormon A graduation ceremony doesn't give a new status and new identity. The robes come from medieval Europe. There are no secret handshakes.

12 weeks after landing in Russia, I was given an assignment that changed my life. I remember hearing the notorious ringtone of my mission president and knowing what it likely meant… training out of training. I answered the call and my mission president said: “Elder, the Lord wants you to train a new missionary. I want you to know that this call doesn’t come out of necessity, but from revelation.” I was overwhelmed. To add more, I was called to serve in the local branch presidency in a branch with less than 10 active members. I remember saying goodbye to my trainer and hello to my new trainee. To my surprise, I knew him from high school! But as I sat on the train back to our area, I had serious doubts. Did I speak the language good enough? Did I have the bandwidth to train, continue learning myself, and serve in the branch? In response to a million prayers offered on a 4 hour train ride, I remember a clear answer: “this is what you were born to do.” That answer pierced my soul. My doubts disintegrated and were replaced by confidence. Even though I didn’t know what I was doing, I did everything I could to be exactly obedient and help my trainee. Many days, even after hours of calling, we had blank planners. We would quite literally be “led by the spirit, not knowing beforehand the things we should do.” My trainee helped me when I was afraid to talk to people or got nervous, and we learned together. I learned to conduct sacrament meeting, and spoke almost weekly. My abilities in the Russian language accelerated. It was a refiner’s fire. More importantly, my personal study time became my solace. One hour of spiritual feasting that I wished would never end. Relying on the Savior, I grew despite my many mistakes. While I likely could have trained better or done more, the Lord built me. Because of those transfers, I am a better man today. Then, God sent @PeacemakingSt to the area to clean up the mess I had made:) I am so grateful for the continued opportunities to grow in service in the Lord’s church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

It's the 20th Anniversary of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." NONE of his scary predictions have come true. Mt. Kilimanjaro still has snow and Glacier National Park still has glaciers. Here's why we are not doomed:

ABC7 Eyewitness News
Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt sat down with Eyewitness News for an interview last week, where @abc7JoshHaskell asked him about his past connections to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. "We could go back 15 years. I've said a lot of dumb things. I've done a lot of stupid things in my life... I'm a different person," Pratt said. Read more: abc7.la/mFsVxE

When you put Jesus first, everything else begins to work out. I remember reading His word and realizing I was "in bondage". I hadn't seen it before. The Spirit opened my eyes as I soaked up the scriptures daily, prayed, did my best-- I became more sensitive to God speaking to me. I finally saw it. Then, I prayed. He delivered me!– from 14 years of hell. It wasn't easy. It was worth it— I didn't lose myself to someone who took and took, hurt and hurt, hid and hid, lied and lied, deceived and deceived. I was almost lost. Jesus saved me. I love you my Jesus, my King, my ALL! Praise be thy name!!! I'll keep trying to be better for you. I'll keep trying. Thank you 🤍

The thousands of gallons of crude oil spilled in East Los Angeles made its way all the way through the storm drain system to Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. Frustrated workers try their best to save the coastline and wildlife from the latest self inflicted ecological disaster to hit Gavin Newsom’s California.
Kevin Dalton@TheKevinDalton

A construction crew in East Los Angeles accidentally drilled into a 16-inch pipe spilling more than 12,000 gallons of crude oil across the streets and into storm drains. This will invariably cause gas prices in California to continue to skyrocket and displace the homeless people invariably living in the storm drains.

Today my study took me down a path of being reminded to stay 'True to the Truth'. God will redeem his righteous in the end. The world is spinning in turmoil and darkness and it's easier than ever to get lost in it. “I invite you, to walk the path of faith with me. I challenge you to stand for that which is right and true and good.” - Gordon B. Hinkley Elder Wirthlin in April 1997 gave a talk called True to the Truth. He mentions asking ourselves a question for our benifit, Am I True?. I plan to start asking myself this more regularly so that I can check in on myself and correct where I need to correct.

Crime isn't down. Angelenos like my friend Harvey Levin have simply stopped reporting crimes because they've resigned to the fact that under Karen Bass, the inmates run the asylum, and nobody will enforce the law. This is why LA is voting for me.
