Doctor Who is dead, and the BBC is once again lying to you about why. It's come out they only averaged 3.2 million viewers in the UK last year. That's for a show that was a national event on Christmas Day, pulling over 10 million at its peak. Tennant's comeback specials in 2023 still drew 7 million. Two years later, the Gatwa era is averaging 24th in the weekly charts. The BBC line is that iPlayer compensates for it. But iPlayer was also there when the show had twice the audience. Chibnall spent four years telling the audience what to think about themselves instead of telling them a story. The Gatwa era was a disaster of epic proportions. The Disney money didn't fix the problem because money doesn't fix bad storytelling. Is there any way to fix Doctor Who going forward or is it over?
