New WTX Podcast episode is live (link in replies): For nearly a decade, the people of West Texas fought for something most of the state took for granted: a college of their own. They battled through three governors, three legislatures, and one outright scandal. They were lied to, vetoed, ignored… and they refused to quit. This is the story of telegrams and barbecue diplomacy, of political brawls and backroom deals, of the long fight that gave birth to Texas Technological College, and with it, a new era for West Texas.

Wow, in his postgame interview Kansas head coach Bill Self just said a St. John’s fan threw a knife at the KU bench during the second half. Exclusive scoop from @M_Vernon.

@_KyleJacobson I put this exact same order into my app and it came out to $60.48. So they're also paying a 36% California tax

Do Akron fans even exist, and if so, can one of them explain what it’s like to be a fan of a school that’s named for a city that literally didn’t exist until LeBron James became a star?

@jacksettleman A.) You could test it before teams' seasons are on the line 2.) You could have done something after the women all complained, but didn't

Maybe I’m dumb but why is this getting dunked on so hard? • Tries something very creative • Got buzz because it was cool • Product didn’t work • Commissioner listens to players & coaches • Pivots Wouldn’t this actually be a masterclass in how to operate?

@_KyleJacobson Americans really spend 4 years chugging grain alcohol out of a funnel, say "wow, those were truly the best years of my life. oh well!" and then proceed to start a family and have a couple of $6 IPAs once a week

@KentRHance TTU has been a mid level athletic dept until they were allowed to dump massive amounts of money into their athletes. "We can outspend the competition" has ruined college athletics. Apathy among college sports fans is a cancer you can't cure.

50 years ago yesterday the Texas Tech SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR, Ralph Carpenter said near the end of a Texas Tech v A&M basketball game as the Aggies went ahead. ITS NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS”. The rest is history. Texas Tech 74 A&M 72. That saying is used all over the world every day in all kinds of sporting events.

@BigHen49 @MillerForTexas If we're supposedly supporting local farmers I would expect to see a side of Pecos cantaloupe or maybe a big steaming bowl of sorghum. Ribeye Wednesdays maybe?

Fun fact: The city banned Joe Ely's 1980s Tornado Jam because they said the 50,000+ fans were harming the buffalo grass in Buddy Holly Park (promoters said the city really just hated all the fun and debauchery going on in our quaint city). It could have easily grown into something the scale of ACL Fest, had it been allowed to continue. In addition to local favorites like Joe Ely and the Maines Brothers, national touring acts like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Jett, and The Clash performed. Below is a link to SRV's performance at the first Tornado Jam.
