Sal is going to go 30 HR/20 SB/110+ RBI at 22 years old and I'm gonna have people telling me it's not impressive because WAR penalizes 1st basemen too much.
@bryce_spalding Yep and he’s been completely fine defensively. Great? No. But he hasn’t been a liability. Kid is exactly the type of guy you want on your team too. Him and Elly 1-2 can be really good. And the type of player that might tempt Elly to hang around and play with in a perfect world
Sal Stewart sits at 74 RBI on July 22nd. 2 RBI off the MLB leader.
The fact he elevates his game so much with RISP speaks so much to him, and his mentality.
Bases Empty - .807 OPS
Men on Base - .780 OPS
Runners in Scoring Position - .938 OPS
Such a good young hitter. Extend him. #Reds
@drew_lutts@JasonW6268@JungleRat55 JJ is a 4 win player at the all star break. Sal a 1.2 win player. i'm honestly not sure Sal will EVER be a 4 win player and JJ is that at the ASB 😂😂😂😂😂
WAR notably has a volatile relationship with defense. Plus, Wetherholt is playing a totally different position, and has not played multiple positions like Sal has, which WAR doesn’t account for. Sal is miles as far as plate production, and while JJ has “comparable” stats, his batting run value is less than Sal’s. Sal has more homers, RBI, stolen bases, a better OPS, a better OPS+, a better SLG, and a better wOBA.
@drew_lutts@JasonW6268@JungleRat55 he is not "miles" above JJ in plate production. LOL. Sal has better counting stats bc he bats 2-4 and JJ bats 1. JJs defense absolutely slams Sal anywhere on the field. Bat is barely a difference and expected stats say JJ is better. LOL. JJ NLROTY WAS NEVER MORE OBVIOUS
@WilkinsEnjoyer@NolansFlow an offense that just traded away contreras, donovan, arenado is 25th??? wow i'm so surprised. lol they will improve and make strides but i understand choosing now to make your points as you don't know ball
@bryce_spalding And much of what I see written says JJ Wetherholt is the ROY favorite. I don’t get it. I understand the Reds are horrible, but that shouldn’t determine ROY.
Funny:
Kevin Gausman put the Cincinnati #Reds first on his no trade clause his agent negotiated.
Not that he was going to be traded to the Reds, but holding onto the salty from getting claimed off waivers & having a decent finish but not being matched by Giants pissed him off
