On World Press Freedom Day, we thank every journalist, photographer, fixer, editor, and media worker who continues to tell the world the truth about Ukraine. Ukrainian and foreign journalists document Russia's war crimes, report from frontline cities, and preserve the stories of people living through this war. Many risk their lives to make sure the truth is seen and heard. Some have paid for it with their freedom or their lives. This year, Ukraine rose seven places in the World Press Freedom Index by Reporters Without Borders, reaching 55th place among 180 countries. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has climbed 50 positions in the ranking. At the same time, Russia continues persecuting journalists for doing their work, with 26 Ukrainian media workers currently held captive. They must be released and returned home. Free journalism is one of the most powerful tools against propaganda, disinformation and attempts to hide the truth. Thank you to everyone who continues to report, document, investigate and speak up.

Irans new peace proposal to the US has been leaked it includes: PHASE 1 -Full ceasefire across the whole region agreed to by Israel, US, Iran and proxies. -Iran gradually open strait of Hormuz removing mines with help of US minesweepers, in exchange for lifting of US blockade, removal of US massive forces in the region and some sort of compensation. PHASE 2 -Iran proposes to freeze uranium enrichment for 15 years, to then resume but only at 3.6 percent civil levels of enrichment, already enriched would be diluted to 3.6 percent of transferred to other countries. Iran rejects dismantling its nuclear facilities, and wants sanctions lifted and release of frozen assets. Iran will then form security initiatives with Arab nations to prevent future war.

🇨🇳 China Invokes Blocking Statute for First Time China’s Ministry of Commerce has for the first time activated its 2021 Blocking Rules, ordering all Chinese firms and individuals not to comply with U.S. sanctions targeting five independent Chinese oil refineries accused of purchasing Iranian crude. Beijing called the U.S. measures, imposed under two executive orders, an “unjustified” and “improper” use of extraterritorial law. The move puts multinational companies operating in both markets in direct legal conflict: compliance with U.S. sanctions now risks violating Chinese law, and vice versa. Global banks and firms with dollar exposure face secondary sanctions risk if they continue dealing with the affected refineries. Analysts describe the order as a significant step toward competing legal frameworks for global trade, accelerating the path to potential economic “decoupling” between the two powers.
