@HMRCgovuk Hi, how do I sort out a tax code that has been issued incorrectly please?

@HMRCcustomers I have set up the tax account you recommended, on the wage slip I received from work it had a 0T tax code, the tax account is now showing a 427TX code. My previous job is on the too but my employer didn’t take my P45 will the tax office know that my new job is my only job

@Luciebeal Ok thanks. Are you able to sign up for the Personal Tax Account? it should show if a tax code has actually been issued there if you can. it should just take 5 or ten mins. Can you let me know if you can create an account: gov.uk/personal-tax-a… James

@HMRCcustomers Ok. P45 was received but employer wouldn’t take it and said to just call HMRC code was wrong

@Luciebeal Hi Lucie. It can be useful to have a Personal Tax Account as it will show when a new code is sent. We normally automatically send a new code within 35 days of you starting. Did you get a p45 from a previous employer and hand this to the current employer? James

@HMRCcustomers Yes on the 30th Oct 2022, yes it is the only job. No persona tax account, is this needed?
