With all the upset around the current Tourette’s debate & what a life-crushing condition it must be to live with, made me think of that impulse when looking down from a height. The voice, even without s*icidal ideation, that compels you to jump, jump, jump. It feels relatable.

Reem Alsalem UNSR Violence Against Women and Girls
As I said in my report to the Human Rights Council in June 2025: "Particularly concerning is the fact that in a number of countries, such as.... #Canada .... the judiciary and the media call male perpetrators of violence by their self-declared gender identity, thereby also skewing the rates of male and female offending. Since women commit a very low number of violent crimes, ....even small variations can have statistically significant effects. Those statistical anomalies have been detected already in Canada.... Neutral approaches to #sex and #gender also enforce victim blaming of women, minimize abuse, enforce male privilege and affect the ability of State and other actors to identify and define violence against females as primarily male violence, rendering it more difficult to combat."
Sky News@SkyNews

Police have said a female attacked a secondary school in the remote Canadian town of Tumbler Ridge, which has a population of just over 2,000. Sky's @sparkomat looks at the details of an attack that has left Canadians shocked.

@CormStrikeFan The Running Grave for me without any hesitation. Least favourite, Career of Evil because I find Robin being in constant peril exhausting.

I know this is such a difficult question, because they’re all so different from one another, which I know was done very intentionally and it’s one of the main reasons I love this series so much – it never feels samey. Each investigation has a different structure or twist to it, each book has different themes and atmosphere, and the dynamic between Strike and Robin is different in each one. My favourite is constantly changing, but taking into account the investigation side of it, the themes/atmosphere, and Strike & Robin’s relationship dynamic, I think I’m going to have to go for Troubled Blood. I’m really looking forward to getting to it on my current reread, because it’s been a while. But for now, next up is The Silkworm!

It seems that some men genuinely do not understand why health care providers need to know their sex and why this knowledge is not ‘unnecessarily stigmatising’

@Anna53167231 @CormStrikeFan I had to read the chapters that resolved the crime several times before I felt I understand what had happened and I'm still not entirely convinced I've fully understood it.

@CormStrikeFan I'm on my 2nd reading too, and just started Audible with my knitting in hands 😁 Crime is complicated indeed and not sure I've understood everything correctly. Love the last 2 chapters though 😁 looking forward to №9, I think Strike should investigate his mother being killed.

I haven’t talked to anyone about #TheHallmarkedMan since finishing it yet. I think I’m still trying to process it and I need to finish my second read for it all to sink in properly. But, without any spoilers, what are your thoughts on the book as a whole? How would you rank it?

@CormStrikeFan I've done my read and I'm about to start on Audible. Not my favourite. Found the angst and misunderstandings so infuriating. But I did like how it all came together. I loved The Running Grave so much it was always going to struggle to live up to it.

I had no experience of Charlie Kirk beyond the occasional clip that went past my timeline, none of which I engaged with deeply. From this UK POV, he was a preppy fundie Christian conservative doing preppy fundie Christian conservative stuff. No opinion about him beyond characterising him as above, and not thinking at all about that. But I have rarely wanted to defend anyone more.

Rereading #TheHallmarkedMan has become my own personal ‘definition of insanity’…doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. I know I will move onto other books that I have waiting for me, but not just yet…right now I’m feeling compelled to start on my third read THM. I cannot seem to help myself.😏

Public service announcement for Strike and Robin fans, many of whom are saying the same things in my mentions: I’m sorry about the emotional trauma, but I never said this would be easy. #TheHallmarkedMan #Strike9 is well underway and this picture may have some relevance to it.

@NRamsell @egemenuregen @CormStrikeFan I agree with this take. Also I find it really stressful when Robin is in peril alot. Not my favourite so far. But I loved The Running Grave so much it would be hard to match it for me.

@egemenuregen @CormStrikeFan I found this one densely plotted, convoluted & often hard to follow. I’m in awe of JKR’s brilliant mind, but I did want to bang the two protagonists heads together. I didn’t enjoy it as much as any of the others apart from Career Of Evil.

I finished #TheHallmarkedMan! Amazing of course! I didn’t quite manage to make it last a week as I’d intended… As always, I won’t be posting about the book for at least a month to give people a chance to read it, and even after that I won’t be posting any big spoilers.
