It is all about the will to learn. There are so many people who will take all the information at the face value and never wonder if there is more to it. It is truly said. I only fear that this issue spreads everywhere nowadays because of social media and all the post-reality journalism.

The lack of knowledge amongst many Americans here on X when it comes to the last 120 years of European history is worrying. Hollywood rewriting historical events, too much MAGA nationalist hubris and an insufficiently broad education are the apparent reasons. I’ve huge respect for the USA and am honoured to have spent time in Washington DC - White House, State Dept. Pentagon etc - and 27 months in Helmand with the US Marines, but if you have the wrong information, you will make bad decisions, no matter how strong you are.

I feel also the Americans who know are only the ones who are eager to learn and be informed. Most people nowadays lack the will to educate themselves above the rudimentary. And if they are not taught the right way at school if they do not question things the result is the ignorance you are talking about. The role of the allies, the early support of 🇨🇦, leading risky recce, the incredible contribution of 🇬🇧 to keep European governance afloat, during WWII, and to win the war are completely ignored.

Ok this is becoming unhinged. Some people in US still do not understand what the purpose of NATO is or was. Only once in its existence NATO articles went to effect and it was for US benefit, because they were attacked. It is DEFENSE ONLY alliance!!! And no US is not paying for it. Europe does not leverage anyone to do anything. People should learn the history, Americans easily forget what happened in Russia US relations after the fall of Berlin wall. People forget that it was US who denied the possibility of Russia becoming part of NATO when they asked for it. Because US needed the bad guy to justify their military spending. It was US who convinced Ukraine to give up the nukes that were left there by Soviets. It was US who promised Ukraine to guarantee their Sovereignty. If joining defensive alliance is threat to anyone it is only threat to people who plan to attack! As a sovereign nation each nation is free to decide who they want to align with. Russians and Americans obviously see the rest of the world as their vasals and properties. Learn your history then you can spit your non-sense. Ok you really should learn your history. The whole reason why Iranian regime became what it became was initial meddling of US and other countries in their internal affairs 47 years ago. Your use of the term "unprovoked" is ludicrous. How many times did they chant death to America? How many terrorist attacks? You can see with your own eyes how they have armed themselves while forsaking their own people. They KILLED 45,000 of their own people! America still cares about other people - too bad Europe doesn't.

I repeat: The U.S. sent thousands of its 19 years old soldiers to die in Normandy, to free Europe and to end the biggest crime against humanity ever commited - by Europeans. It was just 81 years ago. The whole reason, France, Benelux etc. 🇫🇷 exist today is because of this heroism. My grandparents could grow up in a liberal democracy. Without the U.S. they would be raised at the H*tler Youth. We Europeans would still be in wars again and again, like 1914, 1866, 1870, 1795 etc. They brought peace, democracy, liberty and human rights. They invested billions of U.S. Dollars into Europe with the Marshall Fund. They gave us more than we ever had in our history before. They protected us for 7 decades with hundreds of thousands of soldiers against the cruelties of the Soviet Union. The terror we can see nowadays in Donetsk, would have happened in Bavaria, Bourgogne or the Netherlands in 1950 if there wasn’t the U.S. 🇺🇸 Who do we Europeans think we are to let that nation down, act like bad allies, calling their President names every day on television - and have full confidence we stand better alone. All of instagram is just about, why we’re better than the U.S. We owe them so much. We Europeans are most arrogant species on earth. And to cure this we have to face the truth.

I do not think that the situation is unredeemable. It will take time and yes there must be firm drive for accountability in the framework of the law. If American people are comfortable with having a leader who is out of their rocker, engages in obvious corruption to enrich himself, his friends and the family and calls for inhumane acts then we have nothing to talk about.

If anyone does then they are uneducated. History facts cannot be rewritten because we do not like them. But the same goes for reasoning behind current sentiment. After 12 months of aggressive rhetoric from US towards their allies they construct this feeble excuse. Oh we did attack in middle east again because we are greedy and without provocation and you have to join us. But that is not the same as if the US would be attacked by Iran. Did Iran sink US ships, did they bomb their bases in middle-east prior the aggression? No! Us did this without a consult with their allies. Because they did not want to include them in the deliberations. Then why the need now?

I fear there will be no accountability for any of them. There was no accountability after the first term. I do not hold my breath. Their politicians on both sides do not have the guts to do anything to protect what once was a somewhat free country. Norway as well. We could have been 10 million now. Instead we are 3 million + 2,5 million immigrants who the 3 million is forced to provide for. But of the 3 million, 2 million are too old and too young to create value. Of the 1 remaining million, 500,000 are State employees, and therefore also carried like the other 4 million. Therefore, Norway is now a nation where 500,000 people are taxed 90%, so that 4,5 million people get to relax and vote every election for more Socialism. Of the 500,000 taxation-workers, the top 10% pay 1000x more net tax than the average man does. Those 10% have been leaving lately, many to Switzerland, which means the tax burden of the remaining 450,000 tax-slaves have skyrocketed even further. We now live in poverty, losing more every year, our own «countrymen» refuse to let us be free, and refuse to have a conversation about the situation. Put another way: - Norway is so far into the darkness that it may be too late to save it.
