Ukraine did not start this war. Russia started it. Ukraine supported President Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire. Ukraine has agreed to many different compromises, and this is documented in our draft agreements, in our 20-point plan. Ukraine is willing to do whatever it takes to stop this war.
For us, priority number one – or the only priority – is ending the war. For us, the priority is peace. We need to be strong at the negotiating table. To be strong, we need the support of the world: Europe and the United States. And this includes air defenses – which are currently insufficient, weaponry – which is currently insufficient, and money – thankfully, there is now a European decision, but, frankly, there is a constant shortage of funds, in particular for the production of weapons and, most importantly, drones.
In this war of Russia against Ukraine, we want peace, and Russia demonstrates a desire to continue the war. If the whole world – Europe and America – is on our side, together we will stop Putin. Because together we will all want the same thing: an end to the war, peace – a normal peace, a sustainable peace, safe for the whole world. If anyone – whether the U.S. or Europe – is on Russia’s side, this means the war will continue. There are no other options here. And this is a risk for all countries in the world. Because Russia will not stop, regardless of any agreements, any eloquent messages from them. They will not stop at Ukraine.

Almost every day and every night, our emergency services deal with the aftermath of Russian strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities and communities. This week alone, Russia launched over 1,600 attack drones, around 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and nearly 70 missiles of various types against Ukraine. The primary targets of these strikes are infrastructure that keeps everyday life going. There was another attack today as well – more than 240 drones and 5 ballistic missiles – causing damage in seven regions. Tragically, people were killed in Slovyansk and in the Chernihiv region. My condolences to the families and loved ones.
We continue working with our partners to ensure that, in response to these attacks, our defenses grow stronger. The priority is clear: more air defense systems and missiles, and more support for our defenders. Every agreement must be implemented faster. I thank everyone who is working to support Ukraine.

Since the beginning of September alone, Russia has launched against Ukraine over 1,300 attack UAVs, nearly 900 guided aerial bombs, and up to fifty missiles of various types. Last night, civilian infrastructure was hit again. All necessary services are working at the impact sites.
During the first week of September, the enemy struck the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and Lviv regions. Explosions rang out in practically every region of Ukraine.
Russia continues to prolong this war and seeks to turn diplomacy into an outright farce. And this must be met with a united response: to the attacks and destruction, to the disregard for diplomatic efforts and civilized dialogue. President Trump is absolutely right that effective restrictions on Russian oil and gas trade are needed to get diplomacy back on track.
We must strengthen sanctions pressure, increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine, and ensure that such invasions cannot be repeated in the future. Lasting peace requires functioning and real security guarantees. We are working to implement all these elements of a reliable peace in the future. I thank all partners who support Ukraine and our people.

Today marks the 1,276th day of the full-scale war. Ukraine has been standing in the war against Russia for its independence longer than anyone in the world expected. This is the result of the patriotism and effectiveness of our people. The result of our warriors who heroically fight for our state and destroy the occupier. I am grateful to each and every one of you, in all our defense and security forces, for the strength you give Ukraine and for every result you deliver.
Undoubtedly, a strong and capable Ukrainian army is the most reliable security for our people. But we also need strong security guarantees from all those who seek peace. Every day, together with the United States, Europe, and all our partners, we work to guarantee security.
Ukraine must achieve its goals, and these goals are just: to protect lives, to defend independence, and to secure a dignified peace for Ukraine.
