Monroe County Michigan voted to allow local police to use Flock DFR drones on April 14th as shown in the video here. Well, once the people in the county learned what their "leadership" voted for they held another meeting on April 30th (not in this video but it's online also) so the "leaders" could explain why they voted to use forcibly stolen taxpayer dollars to violate the residents basic civil rights. Did county "leadership" provide a good reason why they voted to devolve further into an Orwellian police state? No. Instead they stated they had new terms with Flock and now the Flock DFR drones would now be given to them free by Flock for the first year of use 🤡 That's actually worse. Flock wouldn't agree to that unless they were monetizing (selling) all the personal information they will be unlawfully collecting on the residents of the county. Google Chrome is quietly downloading a roughly 4 GB AI model to many users’ computers without clear upfront consent. The file, called weights.bin, is part of Google’s Gemini Nano on-device language model and lands in the browser’s user data folder under OptGuideOnDeviceModel. It powers built-in AI tools such as “Help me write,” smarter tab suggestions, on-device scam detection, and page summarization. The download triggers automatically for devices meeting minimum hardware requirements, and Chrome often replaces the files if deleted. While the model processes data locally, installation happens in the background with minimal notification. The scale is noteworthy. Hundreds of millions or billions of installations add up to thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions globally from data transfer, even though each is a one-time event. To prevent or remove it, go to chrome://flags, disable the entries for the optimization guide on-device model and Prompt API, restart the browser, and manually delete the folder.

Hackers are actively exploiting a critical vulnerability in cPanel and WHM known as CVE-2026-41940. This authentication bypass allows attackers to gain full admin access to web servers without needing any login information, the issue affects all currently supported versions of cPanel and WHM. The flaw has been under active attack since February 2026 and presents a major threat to shared hosting providers and the millions of websites they host. Attackers could steal data, install malware, or take over entire servers. cPanel released security patches on April 28 and recommends updating immediately. Many large hosting companies such as HostGator and Namecheap have already deployed the fix. If your server runs cPanel, apply the update now or contact your host to make sure you are protected.

A newly discovered security vulnerability known as Copy Fail, or CVE-2026-31431, has been disclosed in the Linux kernel. It affects virtually every major Linux distribution released since 2017. The flaw sits in the kernel’s cryptographic subsystem and stems from a logic error introduced back in 2017: >It allows any local user without special privileges to escalate directly to root. >The exploit is unusually simple: a short Python script can reliably achieve this by modifying data only in the system’s memory cache rather than on disk. >In practice, an attacker can target any readable file, such as a setuid-root binary like sudo or su, and alter it only in RAM. >The change is invisible to file integrity monitors and leaves no trace on the hard drive. >The same technique also works from inside containers, potentially allowing an escape from Docker, Kubernetes, or similar environments to compromise the host server. >This makes Copy Fail both stealthy and highly portable across systems. Patches have already begun rolling out from major distributors. System administrators should apply the latest kernel updates and reboot as soon as possible.
