A few months back (or whenever it was), the conventional wisdom — especially from the ops/enterprise crowd — was basically:
- Kubernetes is for **big-boy clusters** in the cloud or data centers
- It's way too heavyweight, complex, and resource-hungry for anything running on developer laptops, workstations, or "client-side" machines
- Anyone suggesting full K8s locally was usually met with "just use Docker Compose / Podman / minikube for dev, don't be insane"
And then NVIDIA rolls up to GTC 2026 and goes:
"Here's OpenShell — a secure sandbox runtime for autonomous AI agents… oh btw it literally **boots a full K3s Kubernetes cluster inside a single Docker container on your local machine**, no separate K8s install needed, and it runs policy-enforced sandboxes for things like OpenClaw / coding agents with GPU passthrough if you've got the hardware."
So your sleeping-on-the-NVIDIA-pillow GIF was spot-on: the thing people said would "never" happen on client hardware is now basically the recommended local-first way to safely run powerful, long-lived agents without leaking your filesystem or phoning home unless you explicitly allow it.
The joke aged like fine wine. Kubernetes didn't get lighter… the use-case (and the hardware / lightweight distros like K3s + container-in-container tricks) just got way more compelling. 🤣”

Someone built a tool that automatically removes safety alignment from ANY AI model.
