When I tweet about Black Americans, my goal is to remind us that we are a whole people. There is a growing push to tie the Black American legacy to a broad, abstract idea of a past that may have never been. In doing so, we risk anchoring our present and orienting our children’s future around something idealized rather than grounded. That does not serve us well—we are already seeing the effects of this at the community level. We seem to be losing our sense of self, in part due to this shift. I’m not saying the intent is malicious (though some argue that it is). What I am saying is that if we want to begin repairing our community, we cannot focus on economics alone—we must also consider our social position. We need to reaffirm who we are, so that we, as a people, can rebuild the pride and faith in ourselves that our ancestors once carried.

Exactly. When I was a union rep, I regularly encountered poor and working-class whites who would break union votes for white owners of capital. That was my wake-up call. That’s when it became clear to me that race solidarity superseded class. Capitalism could be phased out tomorrow and be replaced with some other economic system, and anti-blackness would remain. So, when I hear people say, “it’s class, never race,” or “racism will die if we lived in a classless society,” these people still want dominion over others, but in a more surreptitious form of control.

If you are indigneous to land, then you already recieved reparations/compensation. Reparations currently are for Black Americans who are NOT indigenous to the land, and came via the Transatlantic slave trade. Hope this helps.

Conservatives need to address the tension between condemning black people for "not valuing education" and telling them to "fix your own communities" while simultaneously dismantling black-led efforts to amend shortcomings in the black community.
