@KurtSupeCPA What happens if the parents charge fair market interest and the kid cannot pay but it gets added to the principal amount of the back end of the loan. Would the parents have to pay taxes on the imputed interest if they did not collect it for that year?

A couple came to me last year They wanted to loan their son $400,000 to buy a house 0% interest. 30 year payback. Honestly it was a brilliant idea. But there was a big problem. They could afford it and it would have saved their son hundreds of thousands in interest. But I had to stop them before they signed anything. The IRS taxes you on interest you never collected. It's called imputed interest. Charge below the minimum federal rate and you get a tax bill on phantom income. They had no idea. Neither did their previous advisor. The bank of Mom and Dad is one of the best moves in retirement planning. Charge the IRS minimum rate and your son still beats any bank in the country. You could also gift the interest payments back to him every year. A married couple can gift up to $38,000 annually tax free. The bank of Mom and Dad just got even better.

@WacOnion @GoodmanHoops @TheFieldOf68 This is because I’m the NBA, the players are employees and have Colle rice Bargaining Agreements! The universities are full of shit trying to get Anti Trust exemptions with the Supreme Court to not have to treat the players as employees with Workers Comp!!

@LumpyPB @GoodmanHoops @TheFieldOf68 He was locked into a $1m NIL deal and bailed one week later when BYU offered him 3 times as much. When have you ever seen that happen in the NBA? (The answer is never. It's NEVER happened and the player would lose trust and credibility with every other GM if he tried that).

@WacOnion @GoodmanHoops @TheFieldOf68 He locked in during February the father and the son. Independent contracts are worthless as they are only as good as the people that sign them! Baylor and all the universities have caused this by not making them employees with workers comp. Supreme Court is going to say NO!!!!

Leaving Valpo is not easy… and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Valparaiso is one of those places you truly have to experience to understand. There’s an essence to it, a pride, a toughness, a connection, that can’t fully be explained unless you’ve lived it every day. It’s in the locker room, in the relationships, in the battles, and in the moments that stay with you long after the final buzzer. I’m incredibly grateful for the way this place embraced me from day one. The people here, Roger “The Rev” Powell, players, staff, administration, and community make Valpo special. And what makes this bittersweet is simple: we shared something real. We built relationships, created extraordinary memories, and went through moments together that I’ll carry with me for life. This next chapter is an opportunity to grow and build alongside someone I’ve known for a long time, someone I’ve coached and watched develop into the man and leader he is today. That makes this move meaningful in a different way, but it doesn’t make leaving any easier. Valpo, thank you for welcoming me with open arms. The love is real, and it’s forever reciprocated. May God Bless You and Keep You! Love you Valpo!

@MaxBehrend7 @CoachSparks5 Max This is the new reality! Hard to blame a 20 year old kid for taking as much money he can get since 99.5% will never play in NBA and Europe pays less than NCAA does now! I just hope they don’t spend the money and instead invest, allocate and diversify the money well!

@CoachSparks5 Chris he was chasing money. Had he stayed at valpo and had a a stellar season he’d be in the 1-1.5 million range. Now he will go from 800k to 500-600k. Development not important anymore. All they care about is 💰

@cdotjones That’s the thing, lesser conferences are equal to what used to be division 2 or 3. Kids play one year and then move up to division 1 from schools like Butler, Baylor or Marquette. The Real Division 1 schools have more money!

@SGoldwein What’s the point? Butler, Baylor and Marquette don’t have a tenth of the amount of money needed to compete in the NCAA tournament. It’s over, unrestricted free agency without a salary cap and contracts are only as good as the people “kids” that sign them! Baylor Rob Wright?

Want to fix Butler Basketball? - demolish or move out of Hinkle and get into a new place... -get rid of the "NIL Fundraisers" Hinkle is a dump and the "fundraisers" are milk toast and more worried about writing books That's A Start

Take it from someone with first-hand knowledge, Scott Drew is only an existential threat to: 1. Non-coffee drinkers 2. People who don’t like receiving voice texts and 3. Basketball players who aren’t interested in learning about Jesus
Yahoo Sports@YahooSports

Privately, a few coaches have been critical of Baylor coach Scott Drew and his decision to pursue former NBA Draft pick James Nnaji as a midseason acquisition per @DanWolken. The coaches see the decision to enroll a full-fledged professional basketball player who was nearly a first-round NBA Draft pick as an existential threat to the sport that should be off limits no matter how lax the rules get because NCAA officials fear being taken to court. Everything I'm reading from college coaches is great stuff, but what's not being said, is that it’s no longer college basketball. It's professional basketball with budgets that rival the Euroleague. So pros have trade deadlines. The G league is way below college basketball on a pay scale. Even two way players are way below. Unfortunately the game I've been in for over 40 years no longer exists.

The “ethical” bullshit is getting tiring. Scott Drew bettered his team in a way allowed by the NCAA. Is this different than what was done before? Yes. Will everyone like it? Of course not. Just because you don’t like it doesnt mean it’s unethical.
NIL 𝘯𝘰𝘵 NLI@NILnotNLI

For those of us who actually know NCAA Basketball, you know Scott Drew. And if you know him, this is... well, it’s on brand Totally unrelated, just because something is legal or permitted doesnt mean its right or ethical.
