Brigadier Dineo Mokwele’s 2024 appointment as a senior civilian in SAPS Crime Intelligence’s Technical Support unit has come under fresh scrutiny at the Madlanga Commission.
During her testimony, Adv Andrea Johnson conceded that a statement she made under oath in an affidavit that Mokwele was not qualified for the position was incorrect.
Johnson also withdrew her characterisation of the appointment as a “token” appointment and apologised to Mokwele.
The concession raises questions about the accuracy of IDAC’s allegations in court documents and the standards applied when making serious claims under oath.
