@TheTechnician44 Right now, Ferrari looks clearly behind Mercedes in both power unit and tyre conservation. The team definitely needs to work harder on protecting tyres, optimising strategy calls and improving team coordination.

Charles and Lewis battling and some cooked tyres let George get away after that good fight. But in race pace the Ferrari is right there…. Time for a kinder setup on tyres… All the talk of deployment and Ferrari kept the Merc at bay once Lewis started to make George use it.

@F1losopher @Hariclea I can hardly believe this is still racing — the drivers’ results, and even their safety, now depend on a whole bunch of mathematical models and so-called artificial intelligence. Can we basically understand it as the driver and the model essentially co-driving the car together?

Charles mentioned how the system is self learning. The fault in Q2 for both drivers was fixed for Q3, but the system had to revert back to its last know configuration...which was the mapped malfunction in Q2! That's why the Q3 times were as slow as Q2 LOL

@FDataAnalysis Even running these power units for three years feels like absolute torture. It goes completely against the spirit of racing. Maybe adding front-axle kinetic energy recovery would actually fix things? I don’t know.

Mercedes has the best #F1 PU - Period No PU got close to it from T3 to T13. RBPT, the other PU of the 'Compression ratio' saga, is 2nd best Audi did produce a good PU, unlike Honda. Beware of Ferrari: the team had battery software issues in Q2 and Q3, but BEA (the next quickest Ferrari-powered driver) had the least clipping! Clipping is massive: cars lose ~50km/h ***on full throttle***! Ferrari needs the rotating rear wing to work (and wait for the 1st June updated PU testing procedures) to fight on the straights. Their downforce is encouraging: look at the speed in the fast T6! [Considering each PU's quickest lap]
