I’m created a small llm from scratch picoLLM, also created a course for building an LLM from scratch and deploying it into real applications
lectures.montek.dev/Lectures
It is inspired by @karpathy's nanochat, @rasbt's LLMs from Scratch, and a lot of hands-on work.
The course starts from the basics: tokenization, embeddings, positional encoding, attention, decoder blocks, training loops, evaluation, and inference
The capstone is picoLLM: train a small model, evaluate it, compare base vs chat behavior, and understand the logs and run artifacts
I also wanted deployment to be part of the learning path. The course goes from checkpoints to APIs, terminal chat with OpenTUI, and browser-native chat with the vercel @aisdk
@huggingface is a big part of the practical workflow: datasets, model artifacts, sharing, and the Smol Training Playbook as a strong reference point
My goal is to at least teach 10,000 students so they can learn from this and feel that building an LLM is understandable, not reserved for a small group of people with perfect backgrounds
Feedback is welcome, especially from people teaching or learning this material 😄.

we had to declare bankruptcy and start over
painful decision/process and it set us back a bunch
but now we have the foundations to try and do something good

we've moved opencode desktop to electron. it's faster, more reliable, and will replace our tauri build soon. try it out in beta via the link below.

What a move @neetcode1 !!
Connected neetcode to my github (gives me contribution heat map and my successful submissions) and gives neetcode free marketing!
What a move! Impressed!

The main thing I learnt from attending @realsigridjin and @shawnbuilds 's amazing event was to 'Just build it'. Don't think just build! Had a great time guys!
Sigrid Jin 🌈🙏@realsigridjin
I talked about the architecture behind writing a clean-room of claw-code Everyone can use the architecture since omo omx ooo and clawhip are open-source Van OpenAI codex community meetup 🇨🇦

@realsigridjin So true. You have to teach yourself everything from the basics again
