@Blackmoor_Film @CurmudgeonRPG There’s this sense now that there is a “right way” and a “wrong way,” and that there’s “good gamers” and “bad gamers.” Which means there’s a desperate grasping now to know that you’re “playing ttrpgs right” which results in “my system is the right way to play” arguments.

@Blackmoor_Film @CurmudgeonRPG I personally have no problem with making “romance” a focus of a game, if that’s your wont in life. Flirt with that bipedal vampiric warthog in the party if that’s your thing. I just find that modern gamers need far more affirmation than those in the 1980s.

Rumors that there will be an adventure based on the book. Proof the RPG game industry is fragmented. There really is something for everyone. Nope - Daggerheart is not going to become the new D&D by going fairly niche with romance themes. It will be the game for certain people. I favor the games by indies. I can link some below.

@YoDanno @philomancer76 It is true that newer editions have made some mechanics cleaner. I really don’t have too much issue with that. But, I think you can change mechanics without “monsterizing” entire generations of gamers that you wish to make “go away.”

It’s just a hobgoblin he picked to somehow try to paint pre-3rd D&D as “the bad old days of colonialist/racist/sexist grognards” that the world is forever better for having gotten rid of. That’s all.

@PatrickW The reason they don’t use cane sugar is because of tariffs. And heavy subsidies to corn. So, “we’re going to make it much harder for you to make your product, and relieve none of the regulatory pressures that caused you to make formula decisions in the first place.”

@TWLadyGrey Yeah, but the military runs on captains and majors. You can’t court-martial all of that without completely destroying the military as an effective organization. Which I guess is the point because Trump basically hates the military.

@TWLadyGrey The only national level org with any competence left will be the military, so I almost assume he’s going to start using it for domestic tasks, like law enforcement and deportations. Which will be so problematic that the SCOTUS will weigh-in on letting the USA become militarized.

@TWLadyGrey I agree that It’s going to be “rule by executive order,” with lots of firing and dismissals of pretty much anyone that doesn’t go along. Which means so many people get lost from the federal government that it can’t actually function at any comparable level to right now.

@TWLadyGrey Honestly, I think people really loved indoor plumbing BITD. Having to go outside to the outhouse was definitely a pain. And having indoor plumbing was a sign of the upper class, which everyone aspired to. This modern day Luddism seems to be pretty recent.

@TWLadyGrey I’ve met some truly nice people out here in exurbia who are Trump voters. They genuinely thought the economy was terrible, even though they were doing “ok” personally. That small dissonance did not motivate them sufficiently to look outside their bubble.
