I once spoke to a woman who told me she thought transgender women were illegitimate women, because too many of us were software engineers and things like that, instead of going into female careers. She was, herself, a software engineer.

@JamesGGRP @zoanna3D When you multiply two numbers written in polar notation (radius, angle), you multiply the radii and ADD the angles. A negative number has a positive radius (because the radius is always positive), but its angle measure is 180° (or τ/2 radians). 180+180=360. Whuh duh fuh???

I think I've figured out the problem. If I have an argument on my own terms, I know what the argument is about, I can be as charitable as I want, and I can fence off people who are uncharitable.
But when I get into an argument due to somebody else, I end up poisoning the well.
