@BurntBoats thanks, but i don't get the intuition for why KRACH solves the problem with measuring SOS or how we can be certain KRACH is overall better
English

BurntBoats@BurntBoats
@Lynah2013 This probably explains it better for you than a tweet can: collegehockeynews.com/info/?d=krach For the record I am not a KRACH absolutist because I like some of the subjective factors that can be easily added to RPI/NPI like home/away weighting, but I am aware why others are.
QME

NPI consistently gives a boost to teams in worse conferences:
PC over UMD
Cornell over Wisc
Mankato, Augustana, and St Thomas over UMA
And PWR was already giving teams in worse conferences a boost over KRACH.

Comparison of the 2025-26 NPI-based field and what the field with the Pairwise would have been Top 3 seed groups remain the same with some swapping of overall seeds Big thing: UConn would be OUT in the PWR and UMass would be IN
English

Turns out it wasn’t surprising at all and multiple public sources produced this exact bracket. In fact, it was one of the most straightforward brackets in recent memory.

People are going to be surprised at this years #Cawlidgehawkey bracket.....
English

@ColbyCohen36 What was surprising about it? Seemed predictable once we knew the teams

@GregRudrud @trentsinger Been the same system for many years. (PWR and NPI almost identical.) The ECAC teams weren’t even close to missing this year. Your team should have won some more games.
English

@trentsinger Not sure I can watch another minute ECAC hockey. Mystery how these teams (Dartmouth and Cornell) got to where they did in NPI. NPI is broken if they get 4 in the tourney. IMO
English

@JD_Jerbear @LynahFan It's the Minnesota State becoming a 3 seed part of the chaos.
English

@JD_Jerbear @SchlossmanGF The cutoff line moves to 11 regardless of whether Merrimack wins though. UConn winning also moves it to 11. HE would steal a bid from Wisconsin either way
English

@LynahFan @SchlossmanGF It would. You have AHA, then 3 bid steals plus CCHA champ. That moves cutoff line to 11
English

@JD_Jerbear @SchlossmanGF Yes but that does not affect Wisconsin
English

@LynahFan @SchlossmanGF UConn is currently on the edge as an at large. Merrimack winning would be a stolen bid eating into at large spots
English

@davidpasta_88 @chnews Wisconsin couldn’t even make the semifinals of a 7 team league, yet you think they’re more deserving than a team higher than them in the rankings and who has been 1 goal from the frozen four 3 years in a row? 😂😂😂😂 If anything, Cornell is underrated by comparison
English

@chnews Wisconsin should be in over a team like overrated Cornell

@red133883 @DCarleDU @Buccigross Well the Ivy League itself recognizes it and there are six teams competing, so it doesn’t seem that strange to me. But I get that it’s a bit weird
English

@LynahFan @DCarleDU @Buccigross But it’s not a league in hockey. Don’t get me wrong I like the ivy’s in the ECAC but does colgate get to give itself the patriot league championship from 1991-2008 when BU joined?
English

Looks like a great atmosphere for the NCAA tournament! Can’t imagine Albany Regional matching this. Top 8 host bottom 8.

@skidrivebike @NateSilver538 @Alicia_Smith19 You support Trump, that’s just completely and utterly irredeemable. I’m sorry man
English

@sezenack Wyttenbach is too busy finalizing his transfer documentation to accept this award
English

@NateSilver538 @Alicia_Smith19 Every republican president will suffer low polls due to relentless media attacks on everything they do
English

@red133883 @DCarleDU @Buccigross The Ivy League itself literally tracks the standings and recognizes the champion
English

@DCarleDU @Buccigross I mean when you put up made up banners….there is no Ivy League in hockey
English

@DCarleDU Neutral site regionals stink but what are you gonna do about the fact Cornell would be on spring break during the regional?
