Dear emailer, Truth: Merrimack, which probably spends in the bottom 3 in Hockey East, outspends UNH. Merrimack has a rev-share budget and a third assistant. Also, it's "you're" You're (see what I did there?) welcome. Love, Mike

@BurntBoats thanks, but i don't get the intuition for why KRACH solves the problem with measuring SOS or how we can be certain KRACH is overall better

NPI consistently gives a boost to teams in worse conferences: PC over UMD Cornell over Wisc Mankato, Augustana, and St Thomas over UMA And PWR was already giving teams in worse conferences a boost over KRACH.
BU Hockey Stats@BUHockeyStats

Comparison of the 2025-26 NPI-based field and what the field with the Pairwise would have been Top 3 seed groups remain the same with some swapping of overall seeds Big thing: UConn would be OUT in the PWR and UMass would be IN

@GregRudrud @trentsinger Been the same system for many years. (PWR and NPI almost identical.) The ECAC teams weren’t even close to missing this year. Your team should have won some more games.

@trentsinger Not sure I can watch another minute ECAC hockey. Mystery how these teams (Dartmouth and Cornell) got to where they did in NPI. NPI is broken if they get 4 in the tourney. IMO

Dartmouth and Princeton headed to OT tied at 1-1. Augie's fate hangs in the balance.

The Chaos Scenario still exists: Wins by Ohio State, Merrimack and Princeton. If that happens, Wisconsin would be out and Minnesota State would be a 3 seed.

@JD_Jerbear @SchlossmanGF The cutoff line moves to 11 regardless of whether Merrimack wins though. UConn winning also moves it to 11. HE would steal a bid from Wisconsin either way

@LynahFan @SchlossmanGF It would. You have AHA, then 3 bid steals plus CCHA champ. That moves cutoff line to 11

@LynahFan @SchlossmanGF UConn is currently on the edge as an at large. Merrimack winning would be a stolen bid eating into at large spots

@davidpasta_88 @chnews Wisconsin couldn’t even make the semifinals of a 7 team league, yet you think they’re more deserving than a team higher than them in the rankings and who has been 1 goal from the frozen four 3 years in a row? 😂😂😂😂 If anything, Cornell is underrated by comparison

@chnews Wisconsin should be in over a team like overrated Cornell

Wisconsin's odds haven't moved much. They're about 85 percent. The only way Wisconsin is NOT in the tournament is if the cut line moves to 12. Merrimack, Princeton, and Ohio State all winning kills Wisconsin.

Teams 1-11 are guaranteed NCAA spots. Wisconsin is likely locked. Still a chance the Badgers miss, but only with Merrimack, Princeton, and Ohio State wins tomorrow.

@red133883 @DCarleDU @Buccigross Well the Ivy League itself recognizes it and there are six teams competing, so it doesn’t seem that strange to me. But I get that it’s a bit weird

@LynahFan @DCarleDU @Buccigross But it’s not a league in hockey. Don’t get me wrong I like the ivy’s in the ECAC but does colgate get to give itself the patriot league championship from 1991-2008 when BU joined?

Looks like a great atmosphere for the NCAA tournament! Can’t imagine Albany Regional matching this. Top 8 host bottom 8.
