We are in this mess because the PM chose in 2016 to pander only to the ERG and not to reach out and compromise, she is still in that mode. What last night tells us is that the rest of parliament must be willing to do what she won't: to compromise in the interests of the country.

@timfarron We are in this mess because ALL MPs failed to recognise the referendum result and work together to achieve it. Obstruction of that result has been the aim of your party throughout.

By refusing WTO Brexit (for which both UK + EU well prepared) the PM has shown her true colours. PM does not want to deliver Brexit. She is determined to betray the will of the people. This is an establishment stitch up like no other. Voters will not forgive or forget.

@DavidGauke @NickBoles Your party has a very poor outlook given the shambles visited on the country over Brexit. The referendum result was to leave the European Union. You and others in Westminster have obstructed that result from being attained.

I don’t always agree with him but a Conservative Party that doesn’t have room for Dominic Grieve doesn’t have a happy future.

Dominic Grieve is deselected because of his beliefs in campaign led by his ex UKIP opponent. The Tory leadership can stop any deselection if it wants - we frequently did. CCHQ should suspend the local party. Otherwise we are heading for a huge, historic split in the Tory Party

One after another after another, Tory MPs queueing up to essentially Tweet that breaking promises on one of the biggest issues in post-war politics shouldn’t have repercussions. Now Michael Gove. Such a party doesn’t have a happy future.

We have to be honest about the pros and cons of options today. No option is perfect. Free movement would continue with CM2.0 but for those with concerns we would have an important new power we don’t have now in the EU that would give us a brake on free movement if we needed it.

Listening to @MichelBarnier reacting to votes last night in Westminster. There are 3 scenarios left he says: 1. A positive vote for the deal he struck with @theresa_may 2. A ‘no-deal’ rupture (no transition period) 3. Long extension It’s for the UK to choose, Mr Barnier says.
